There are still a lot of hard work, many court cases to settle and many legacy issues to clear out before SCIB can truly turnaround.

Know why Bplant Sarawak hardly make any money?
Indonesians are many time hard working than Sarawakians because if Indonesians do not work then no income whereas we have too many hand out or free lunch.

KUCHING, 29 NOVEMBER 2023 – Industrialised building systems specialist, Sarawak Consolidated

Industries Berhad ("SCIB" or the "Company"), today celebrates significant milestone in its Q1FY2024 financial results. Demonstrating a remarkable turnaround, SCIB has not only boosted its revenue but also
transitioned into profitability, a testament to the strategic acumen and diligent efforts of its management team.

The Group announced a robust revenue of RM39.4 million for the quarter, a stellar 30% increase from the RM30.3 million recorded in the same period last year. This strong performance is further accentuated by a profit before tax (“PBT”) of RM2.1 million, a remarkable recovery from the loss of RM0.9 million in the corresponding quarter of the preceding fiscal year.

The Manufacturing division, the cornerstone of SCIB's success, reported a revenue of RM29.6 million and a PBT of RM4.2 million. This is a significant uplift from the RM24.2 million in revenue and RM1 million in PBT seen in the same quarter of the previous year, driven by increased sales volume of foundation piles and enhanced profit margins.

In the Construction/EPCC segment, the Company registered revenue of RM9.8 million, a positive development attributed to ongoing road maintenance and school projects, despite a marginal loss before tax (“LBT”) of RM0.3 million, primarily due to higher expenditures.

In the latest quarter, SCIB's financial performance significantly outstripped the previous period, with revenue soaring by 18.3% to RM39.4 million. This marked increase is a testament to the Company's robust sales and operational efficiencies. More impressively, PBT witnessed a remarkable leap, which is a clear indication of SCIB's successful strategic turnaround and management's effective decision-making in navigating the market and optimising operations. This outstanding growth in both top-line revenue and bottom-line profits underscores SCIB's strong market position and operational excellence.

Philip ( buy what you understand) Some bad choices to be made, this year I cut loss of almost 50% on skpress for their reduction in contacts of Dyson that flew over to Vietnam due to lower costs and better supply chain management. I expect to be wrong, but I think for now I will transfer the funds to SDS over the week, bought from 0.72 onwards since 22 until thaipusam. I have good feelings about this little company that is pulling all the right decisions and managing it's growth very very well.

The research house said the group's 3QFY2023 results were disappointing due to higher-than-expected jet fuel prices, which have since eased substantially.

However, Maybank IB expects fares to peak in the upcoming 4Q2023 and contribution from its associate Thai AirAsia X (TAAX) to improve starting next year.

Some businesses do sell at a premium over its book value. Think of Heineken, Carlsberg, Nestle. The businesses have competitive advantages in the form of brands, product portfolios, distribution network and so on.

But for a fund like ICAP, what competitive advantages does it have? It’s just a collection of other company shares and bank FDs

Agreed with observatory,
Allow me to explain on my observation:
Definition: Intrinsic value is the Present value of the investment of all the expected cash flow over the lifetime discounted at the appropriate discount rate.

Intrinsic value = (CF1/ (1+d)^1) + (CF2/(1+d)^2) + ----- +(CFn/(1+d)^n)

Where:
CF = Cash Flow in the Period
d = Discount rate
n = The period number
This Intrinsic value is actually a Discounted Cash Flow (DCF)

Hence people only look into the forward cash flow or PE multiple in valuation
Example:
CapA's aviation:
Kenanga Research values Capital A’s airline assets at RM2.5 billion based on 10 times the group’s forward price-earnings ratio (PER) for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2024 (FY2024).

Maybank IB Research’s Yin ascribed a much higher valuation of RM5.47 billion, or 91 sen per share based on a forward PER (FY2024) of eight times.
And totally ignore the RM 10 billion+ net liabilities in the book.

Similarly people value Insas as forward PE 5 to 10 X and totally ignore Insas:
FD: RM 938,066,000
Cash and bank balances:RM 154,302,000
Associate company 527,008,575 Inari shares and subsidiary company 1,115,718,665 M&A shares.
Financial assets at fair value through profit or loss RM 228,481,000
Trade receivables: RM 517,332,000 of which RM 282,235,000 is loans receivables by Insas Credit & Leasing Sdn Bhd
Or
NAPS: RM 3.56

Hence in order to win big in share market you need to look for company with sudden growth catalyst that will increase the forward earning multifolds, a multibagger stock in the making (case in point Ytlpower)

Or
Growth stock that show yearly revenue and earning increase.

PS: Insas need to employ its cash hoard into new business/investment to generate more earning or else Insas will be forever a value trap.

Stock

2024-01-30 19:12 | Report Abuse

Jaks and capA is not a value trap but a booby trap set up by ALP and Stony to trap newbie and old bird.

The problems is because the white man and the book say:
