Aunty GF, don't bore us with your outdated comments la. Come up with something more current and critical if you want to stay relevant as a naysayer here.
2021-07-15 10:45 | Report Abuse
MM, Supermax is the biggest glove supplier to US now , taken over part of TG market share in US due to the CBP ban. Supermax as an OBM biz have enough profit margin to buy from other overseas OEM manufacturers to cover for any shortfall due to the EMCO shutdown in Selangor factories. So US glove supply probably not affected by our shutdown.
2021-07-15 10:00 | Report Abuse
This morning green is good sign that glove may have finally reversed the downtrend for the moment. However, continue to be cautious. Don't chase high or contra play. Supermax retailers/supporters should contunue to hold tight tight and don't let go cheap cheap. The long hauler can slowly nibble the shortists shares up, buy and keep, slowly short squeeze them. Don't cut loss or earn nasi lemak profit, but collectively hold for >5.0.There's so much to look forward to as below:
1. potential sbb by Stanley, so cheap for Stanley to SBB now.
2. potential FF coming in to average down their investment
3. potential good dividend reward for end FY21, so much earnings to distribute. Better than FD
4. potential OGM deals updates, with coming wave the urgency for strategic supply chain will be
higher.
5. potential US expansion update. Such expansion would now be seen as a smart move in light
of current halted operation due to EMCO. Cannot put too many eggs in one basket.
6. Potential suspension of RSS due to worsening economic conditions for retailers. 580,000 MSME
owners will collapse if lockdown persist. Many of them likely to be retailers at Bursa. FM need to
assist by suspending RSS like last year.
7.Covid coming big wave could wreck havoc to the global healthcare system worse than previous
waves. ASP may start rising again due to acute glove shortage. Remember 80% of the global
population have not been vaccinated yet. This time it will hit many more countries which were
spared in previous waves much harder, and infect wider demographics of the population, therefore glove demand from these new markets will be exponential.
With FPE of 2.5 at current price, there's nothing much too lose. Whereas all other sectors will be hard hit, gloves will continue to earn supernormal profits
2021-07-14 22:56 | Report Abuse
Yup it should be across the board. 3-5% should be reasonable for this pandemic period.
2021-07-14 22:35 | Report Abuse
I think u guys are a bit worked up over the old man's words and he is not even part of the Gov't cabinet. The FM has said windfall tax is not on the card. Even if the changed his mind, it may just a 5% windfall tax on all profitable sectors across the board, not just the glove co. The burden must be equally and fairly shared. You should not unfairly burden just a few companies by taxing them unreasonably, that is not a wise move that would have wider repercussion. A 5% windfall tax would be about similar to the 75mil donation paid out last quarter.
2021-07-14 21:48 | Report Abuse
CBP issue would not affect Supermax. With the cases set to seriously rise around the world, glove shortage will become even more acute, therefore ASP may rise again, together with profit. Global vaccination is only around 20%, With newer more powerful variants popping up every 3 -4 months, vaccines would struggle to keep, so is global vaccination.
2021-07-14 21:42 | Report Abuse
Its a ok to have the windfall tax but within reasonable rate, such as 5% on taxable income. on top of the 26% income tax.
2021-07-14 20:48 | Report Abuse
yup pjseow , good point, the scaring away FDI factor is critical. Gov't never lift a finger to help the glove makers, so shouldn't impose windfall tax. They impose windfall tax now, most glovemakers will shift out immediately.

@monetary check lazada n shopee nitrile medical glove price. they raised the asp alrdy.
14/07/2021 8:32 PM
The way Delta is ferociously infecting every country around the world, the medical gloves shortage will be so severe that ASP may rise even more than the previous waves. This time gloves will really be diamond.

Pfizer, the pharmaceutical company that created one of the first Covid-19 vaccines to be approved, has been making a hard sell for emergency approval of boosters – additional doses given to those already vaccinated, especially immunocompromised adults.
---------------------------------------------------------
I think Pfizer is absolutely correct to make this hard sell bcos they know that the immunocompromised ppl are the fertile ground for the growing new more powerful variants. Unfortunately, CDC and FDA would not agree as it would distract from the focus and priority towards the unvaccinated ppl .

Yesterday was a recent new milestone for global daily new cases crossing the 500k mark. 13 countries now are in 5 figures, including our very own, but nothing to be proud of though. Whereas 44 countries are in the 4 figures mark with 6 countries nearing the 5 figures mark. . Seems like Delta variant is quite fair and equitable, as it is slowly making sure no countries are being left behind. Soon there will be no more penny Covid stock countries with <100 daily cases, and the upgrading is happening very fast.

The most shocking numbers yesterday was Spain. During end of June it was averaging ard 3k. The day before was only 11k. Then yesterday shot up to 43k. This is the strongest show of strength by Delta since India meltdown. Don't play play with this variant. I shudder to think what will happen when it mutates further later.

Good point myinvestor, so the conclusion is that vaccines by itself do not reduce the infection rate of a country, but personal responsibility of the individuals within the population and proper SOP in place by the Gov't will help to reduce it. It's important to reduce infections amongst the vaccinated in order to reduce the chances for the emergence of new variants that can evade the vaccine. Successful mutation of new variants normally happens in those who have weaker immune system, or immune-compromised person. Therefore, even if such a person is fully vaccinated, there's a chance he may not be able to produce sufficient neutralizing antibodies to fight Delta variant, and that may give the virus a chance to mutate and overcome the antibodies, thereafter an even stronger variant will emerge that can escape the vaccine.

Yup Beary, I think its not so much of they "purposely", but due to no choice , bcos most Gov'ts have been going to one extreme to lockdown for too long, resulting in too much economic damages. So now with some of the population having vaccinated, there's a need to find a middle ground to balance between life and economy while slowly moving towards herd immunity, to allow for some economic recovery. Unfortunately, in the process, some lives have to be sacrificed, either due to individual weakness or overburdened hospitals facilities.

As the Delta variant rapidly spreads, US hotspots have seen climbing cases -- and an expert warns a "surprising amount" of Covid-19 deaths could soon follow.
The US is averaging about 19,455 new cases over the last seven days, a 47% increase from the week prior, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. And a third of those, CNN Medical Analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner said, come from five hotspots: Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri and Nevada.
"In places like Missouri where ICUs are packed, you're going to see a surprising amount of death," Reiner said on Sunday.
At Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, 91% of ICU patients are on ventilators and many are in their 20s, 30s and 40s, Chief Administrative Officer Erik Frederick told CNN Saturday. That is especially concerning, he said, because at the peak last year there were only 40 to 50% of ICU patients on ventilators.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Many 20,30 & 40yrs are on ventilators. This is how serious Delta is. In coming months things will get much worse in US. Covid tsunami gonna hit US soon.

Covid-19 related hospital admissions rates increased by 36% over the past two weeks in the St. Louis metro area, according to a report from the St. Louis County Public Health Department.
"This variant is spreading quickly, and this variant has the ability to devastate those in its wake, and that is why it is so critical to get vaccinated now," Page said.
