Phases of clinical trials
A clinical trial is only done when there is good reason to believe that a new test or treatment may improve the care of patients. Before clinical trials, tests and treatments are assessed in preclinical research. Preclinical research is not done with people. It assesses the features of a test or treatment. For example, the research may aim to learn if a device is harmful to living tissue. Another aim may be to learn more about the chemical makeup of a drug.

After preclinical research, tests and treatments go through a series of clinical trials. Clinical trials assess if tests or treatments are safe for and work in people. Clinical trials have five phases. The phases are described next using the example of a new drug treatment:

Phase 0
Phase 0 trials are the first clinical trials done among people. They aim to learn how a drug is processed in the body and how it affects the body. In these trials, a very small dose of a drug is given to about 10 to 15 people.

Phase I
Phase I trials aim to find the best dose of a new drug with the fewest side effects. The drug will be tested in a small group of 15 to 30 patients. Doctors start by giving very low doses of the drug to a few patients. Higher doses are given to other patients until side effects become too severe or the desired effect is seen. The drug may help patients, but Phase I trials are to test a drug’s safety. If a drug is found to be safe enough, it can be tested in a phase II clinical trial.

Phase II
Phase II trials further assess safety as well as if a drug works. The drug is often tested among patients with a specific type of cancer. Phase II trials are done in larger groups of patients compared to Phase I trials. Often, new combinations of drugs are tested. Patients are closely watched to see if the drug works. However, the new drug is rarely compared to the current (standard-of-care) drug that is used. If a drug is found to work, it can be tested in a phase III clinical trial.

Phase III
Phase III trials compare a new drug to the standard-of-care drug. These trials assess the side effects of each drug and which drug works better. Phase III trials enroll 100 or more patients.

Often, these trials are randomized. This means that patients are put into a treatment group, called trial arms, by chance. Randomization is needed to make sure that the people in all trial arms are alike. This lets scientists know that the results of the clinical trial are due to the treatment and not differences between the groups. A computer program is often used to randomly assign people to the trial arms.

There can be more than two treatment groups in phase III trials. The control group gets the standard-of-care treatment. The other groups get a new treatment. Neither you nor your doctor can choose your group. You will also not know which group you’re in until the trial is over.

Every patient in a phase III study is watched closely. The study will be stopped early if the side effects of the new drug are too severe or if one group has much better results. Phase III clinical trials are often needed before the FDA will approve the use of a new drug for the general public.

Phase IV
Phase IV trials test new drugs approved by the FDA. The drug is tested in several hundreds or thousands of patients. This allows for better research on short-lived and long-lasting side effects and safety. For instance, some rare side effects may only be found in large groups of people. Doctors can also learn more about how well the drug works and if it’s helpful when used with other treatments.

Why Nova is allowed to sell hepar-p in the market since all clinical tests has not been passed?

The company is required to disclose any acquisition/disposal of interests in subsidiary or JV or Associate under QR note 11. Effect of Changes in the Composition of the Group.

JAKS has 51% equity interest in JAKS Island Circle Sdn Bhd in property development business. No acquisition of Non Controlling Interests as stated in latest QR Cash Flow Statement. Therefore, Jaks has not acquired any remaining stakes from Andy.

It consists of 2 office tower blocks in front and 3 high rise condominium at the back. All these are sitting on a 4 storey underground car parks. Jaks is now trying to put an injunction to delay the payment of the Rm 50 million. The case has gone to Appeal Court.

The current ongoing mixed development project at Section 13, Petaling Jaya known as Pacific Star achieved sales to-date of RM951 million (2017 : RM915 million), being 86% of the total gross domestic value (“GDV”) of approximately RM1.1 billion. The GDV and sales to-date included the Pacific Star Business Hub (“Business Hub”) which was sold to another subsidiary within the Group. The Pacific Star project is expected to complete by end- 2019 and the Group will take a step back from the property development sector for the time being in view of the current property market landscape. As at the end of March 2019, the Group has unbilled sales of RM203 million from its property development projects, giving the Group earnings visibility for the coming years.

Jaks is now reporting profit from this Rm 440 million which has attracted so many investors. From my experience in power plant construction, even after the power plant construction is completed, it will take more than 1 years to test run the huge muti- billion $ system. "

Let me clarify, capitalized interest payments will not show up in the cash flow statement but added to the property development assets.

According to its 2nd quarter accounts, it reported the following which investors must verify:

1, Rm 148 million for good will. Who has taken this money?

2, Rm 642 million in investment properties.

3, Rm 280 million in Joint Venture

4, Rm 318 million long term long.

5, Rm 82 million current bank loan.

6, Rm 935 million trade and other payable.

7, Rm 82 million cash at the beginning of the period and Rm30 million end of the period.

How the share price can go up nicely if no strong operators get involved? This is the reality in share market and got nothing to hide.

Thanks for your info. I am quite sure some China funds are standing behind controlling Jaks. Kyy got no choice and had to let go his stakes last time. I am expecting Jaks to trade max 90 cents today and breaking RM 1 by end of the month. I did not expect such number of crowd is attracted... It seems there are too many contra players get involved.

I was told China firm was interested to buy a block of Jaks shares a year ago, my VIP client expected the share price of Jaks will skyrocket up into the sky. However, it did not happen at the time.

The present up surge may imply someone is interested to buy a block of Jaks shares. I do not know, I just speculate only. The volume is very high now to make me to recall the event.

Hard to say. This is the biggest black mark in his investment history. It could be an opportunity for him to take revenge on Jaks to recover part of his reputation. The scale would certainly smaller than previous attack.

This could be the best timing to invest in Jaks since the price is much lower comparing with last year. Progress of power plant is ahead of schedule. High demand of electricity in Northern Vietnam since the trade war erupted. It is a High gain and Low risks given limited options available for investing high growth shares in KLSE. No time to wait until everything is settled down.

Funds Managers are also exhausted in looking for high growth companies in KLSE. It's simply very limited available nowadays. They would join the boat soon.

This type of same positive and negative information can be recycled for more than 10 times for Jaks in a year. Old birds would certainly ignore it...so who else would take such recycling stories seriously?

There’s no right or wrong. It’s just people have their own way of cari makan in stock market.

Short term traders like that la...after I buy, I would post positive information until I sell. After I sell, I would dish out negative information until I buy again. The cycle repeat and recycling of information.

With such future prospects, Redstone would attract more dream chasers. Sky is the limit.

No easy life in stock market especially KLSE. The up and down cycle in a short period is really shaking our heads.

The tricky part is how to maintain our confident while keep cutting lost.. It is, in fact, life torturing during the process and may have to endure it for years.

Practice of cutting loss until you don't have much feeling in loosing money.

DK66. Finance cost is rather high in Vietnam. Average interest rate 9% is more suitable in reflecting current prevailing market rate.

No catalyst yet but it's still a good bargain at this price level.

Add more and patiently wait for the next QR announcement.
