YoY should see further improvement, QoQ definitely worse because the previous quarter (2016Q4) reported in August 2016 has exceptional item below:

"The increase in the revenue and profit before tax for the reporting period was mainly due to higher revenue contribution from the construction segment for DUKE Phase-2 and also an improved revenue in the toll operation. Other than the above, there was an increase in the other income relating to the fair value adjustment for investment properties of RM113.00 million net of deferred tax during the year."

Does anyone know the ratio of export and import sales?

I do not check but it looks like most if not all of the stocks recommended by Cold Eye on Saturday and published on newspaper are up today. Those who attended the forum said Cold Eye said he sold Gadang at RM3. Those well-known investor do have influence on market.

If steel counters stay weak, sell high first and buy low later.

I took 4 days leave and spent more than usual time in the forum and felt sad.

some steel counters moved up after reporting very good quarterly earnings, and most if not all steel counters also moved in tandem.

Annjoo H1 EPS 19.56 sen, share price around RM2
CSCSTEL H1 EPS 10.38 sen, share price around RM1.90
Masteel H1 EPS 6.51 sen , share price around RM0.96

the share prices of steel counters (especially those reporting very good earnings) are just doing catch up. If you look at their half year Earnings Per Share, how can you say they are overshoot themselves? Even at current prices, some of them are still undervalued. Well, you can argue CSCSTEL is not cheap but you pay premium for a steel company that does not incur loses even in a year as badly as last year.

I think construction and steel companies have higher chances to report higher earnings next year than this year. 2 very strong sectors. There are some good news to the steel counters:

1) higher demand (mega projects) / buyers switch from import to local suppliers (most important factor)
2) cheaper raw material (due to Megasteel)/ protection of government tax
3) steel price stable (unpredictable but healthy margin should be good enough)

I will stick to my evaluation.

MonkeyBusiness, if you are really sincere, why don't you try to warn those buying FGV, DRBHCOM, and POS... At least most steel counters are backed by the latest quarterly reports. I can not say the same thing about FGV, DRBHCOM, and POS.

what a battle at RM1.05 just now... big lots were cleared

wow, even SSteel which has problem with right-off is about 10 sen away from its 3-year high... good to see that!

Some steel counters have reach 3-year high but Masteel not yet. Not only that their share prices are above their 3-year high by a big margin. Masteel's highest for the last 3 years is around RM1.15. Hopefully soon will be Masteel's turn to exceed its 3-year high and beyond.

If we look at domestic rebar price alone, it is very possible for rebar companies to report better year-on-year results for 2016Q3, 2016Q4, and 2017Q1. Tax on imported steel bars should help as well.

But there is another thing that we have to consider. If the domestic demand does pick up as expected due to mega projects especially next year, we will also see better future earnings.

Competition from China? Well, the recently announced tax on imported steel bars should take care of it.

Should be good if you are willing to wait for a few quarters.

Good result, right? Its earnings have been improved year-over-year for at least the last 4 quarters, and maybe more.

yes the share price is down after quarterly report but this happens to other stocks that announce good earning. It does not mean the result is bad. Its share price already up for weeks before the quarterly report so this thing happens. If nothing wrong, its share price will recover.

Anyhow if it drops further, that's good for others who are waiting for cheaper price.

Now I know the reason the share prices of Annjoo, Masteel and SSteel moved in Friday afternoon. The big buyers knew about the good news and bought the shares like crazy...

recently its price did not drop a lot when market was weak and showing higher low ...

RCECap has good quarterly earning and its share price is still undervalued.
