think in general, palm tree can grow very tall just like coconut trees. Last time I planted few coconut trees, grown very tall, had a hard time removing them, so I don't plant any trees which are tall anymore.

As for chopping the bark, it worked for some trees, because that chopping i think damaged the flow of nutrition to the root, so it stressed the plant. I did it to my durian tree before, it worked.

before planting a cold climate type plants, always check the background of the plant, what you will be facing.

i think the big type strawberry you mentioned must be quite resistant to disease, since the fruit can be so big, the plant must be vigorous too. I'm planting the cameron highlands type

dragon, regarding the strawberry you mentioned is big type, so that means you don't know what type the strawberry is but quite interesting that it can grow big and strong but the fruit of course is not good. Have you thought of why cameron highlands doesnt have these big strawberries type?

i did sprout avocado before but only just to have a look at the sprout but didn't proceed further because I did research that avocado tree is very tall. Once I know a tree can grow very tall, i won't touch it anymore.
As to why it didn't produce fruits,
1. Some trees planted from seeds take very long time to produce fruit
2. Sex of the plant(male/female or different tree)
3. required chilling requirement? Or any special criteria before it can bloom.
4. If grown from seeds, could be different from parent, so not sure what the end result going to be. Some type of trees parents and progeny very different like apple trees, some although different but still similar.

As for longan(not mata kuching), get one you know the type. So how to bear fruit? Well, longan have same chilling requirement but researcher found out something, there's chemical which can put in that can produce good result/bear fruid for certain type of longan. But that chemical is found in fireworks, so hard to get but they claimed using bleach can produce the same result BUT only certain type longans have better result. I tried bleach before, doesnt work, think i'm going to add more, maybe got to do with the type.

i'm testing strawberry now, last time did few times, failed as seedlings, strawberry, there are 3 types, some need the 4 seasons to fruit, some whole year one, there's another type , forgotten which one. The cameron highlands type i think is day neutral because we dont have 4 seasons here. The 4 seasons one i thin the fruit are much bigger but not suitable here.
I did get one from cameron highlands before but it withered, so now i'm using seeds, did this many times , failed to passed the seedlings phase but this time there's improvement, i changed my technique but recently got some problem and now i'm changing the plan. Using seeds to grow into plant is very difficult. Just hope they can grow bigger and stronger so that they can product runners.

As for grapes, grapes actually do well in hot climate but there's a catch, grape vine have a problem with fungi, they catched fungi disease easily like powdery mildew, black mold , rust, but the more common one is powdery mildew. There are generally 2 types more prevelant in the market which are isabella(maroon) and IAC. Why these 2 types? Bcoz they have less fungi problem than the rest but still a problem. The market if you buy, normally i think it would be isabella but those ppl they really don't know one, they tell u fruit is green, but most of the time is isabella. Isabella fruit when young is green colour but ripe is maroon colour. Look at the leaf and you will know whether is isabella or IAC. So when u buy grape vine to plant, make sure u buy from someone reputable who knows what type it is, maybe more expensive but is worth it because u won't waste time after planting it for years then realised is problematic. The isabella type very prone to rust problem(not much powdery mildew), IAC not much rust but powdery midlew problem, but i did testing, you put IAC in full sun, the powdery mildew seems to have weaken, don't shade it.

apple tree? Don't bother, bcoz apple tree required certain level of low temperature for a period of time in order to produce flowers and they varied depending on type. Beside the temperature requirement, you need to know the type too bcoz some type have male/female organ on the same tree, some are different. As for growing from seeds, you can put it in fridge, what they called stratification(cold treatment) but dont bother producing plants from seeds because the progeny are very different from the parent and most of the time are useless plant unless you plan to graft good ones to it. How to get good ones to graft? I heard sarawak got higher temperature type of apple tree at b'kalalan, so if can graft it to my apple tree which i grow from seeds, then there might be a chance of it bearing fruit.

mulberry u need to know what type you are planting. Got some the berries are longer one than others, if not , u wasting time planting them

as ornament but is hard to plant, they claim the plant is heat and drought tolerant, easy to grow, but i did research, it seems to be a temperate climate plant.
