people worship the rich and look down on the poor. Surprisingly they do the same for stocks. The biggest sin of Jaks is its share price dropped from 1.80 to 50 Sen. That is when people all abandoned it in droves, and pay no heed to its fundamentals

i3lurker has a habit of coming out to talk bad about Jaks when he is interested to collect, and appears more rational after he has gone in

come to think about it, that is possibly the source of animosity between him and I.

I just don't like it.

Unlike everybody else who purely judges a person's success or failure through his end result, I choose to take into consideration the process and the thoughts behind it.

As far as I am concerned, Uncle Koon has not been reckless by investing in Jaks. He has done almost every thing that Buffett has preached.

It is a company that has a clear path of growth, within his circle of competence and he understands well (due in no small part to his privileged access to management, which in turn is due to his substantial shareholding). He bets big on it just like Buffett bets big on his favourite stocks.

The only thing that I don't like is his heavy reliance on gearing, which is totally unnecessary, as a relatively modest stake would have done well and creates tremendous wealth for him.

Another possible mistake, if the conspiracy theory about ALP playing him is to be believed, is that he forgot to strike a deal to incentivise ALP. If he has done so to align ALP's interest with his (through profit sharing, lets say), the whole fiasco might not have happened.



3iii 2018 was a disastrous year for KYY in his investing. Many were surprised by the quantum of his loss.

A great investor should not find himself in this situation of huge losses.

Jaks is not his only loss. There are other stocks too. His need to sell his prized lands surprised me and pointed to his huge losses too.
Given his resources, he will still be financially sound.

A good or great investor should never find himself in this predicament.
Recall Neil Leeson who collapsed the Baring Bank few years ago. Taking too much risk on board through leveraging unneccesarily. Rule no 1 of Buffett: Don't lose your capital.

Hmmm yes margin financing is the main reason for his downfall , at least according to him

But among so many stocks he had picked, Jaks is actually one of the Best researched (especially if compared to Carimin !!!). He has unlimited access to TOP management, and the investee company's business is well defined and relatively easy to understand. Like I said, it is a waste that it ended in such a tragic way. Until now, I still don't know what to believe

All this while, I thought I understand Uncle Koon well

But whatever happened so far between Uncle Koon and Jaks caught me by surprise. For a person with such intellect, wisdom and experience, and an investment theme that makes so much sense, how could this whole thing end in such a tragic way ?

Fair enough. That is all we want to see

I have no more comments

Let's just wait for Philips proof

If I have 2 mil QL I will proudly display it here. No need twist and turn

I challenge you to disclose amount invested in QL because you claimed you own 2 mil shares

I never made such a claim for my success transformer

As far as success is concerned, I disclosed my entry price (indirectly through date of my article), which I am happy to prove in a blog article by snapshot of my portfolio

You claim number of shares invested , you prove it

I claim my average cost , I prove it

That is the rule of the game here

Some said my method is 67 some said i m.low class investor..

if you measure your portfolio performance by realised gain / loss, then diversification suddenly makes a lot of sense

no more problem of paper gain in one stock offset by paper loss of another stock

at the end, it is cold hard cash and profit in your pocket that counts (aka. realised gain)

(am I confusing you ?)
