I think a little more sideway movement with mixed overtones before resumption of upward trajectory. Not that happy with the chart... looks more of a bearish harami to me.

But what a lucky break to be able to collect more below 1.80. Thought the bird had flown away. The long bearish candlestick of today is extended slightly below the support line of the recent up channel and there maybe some more downside. Good opportunity.

Looking at today's KLSE statistics, local institutions and retailers had net sales of RM242.3m and RM66.1m respectively whereas Foreign participants had net purchases of RM308.5m.

There is a good chance that EPF was the heavy seller of AA today being KLSE's most active trader. Just guessing ok, not bashing.

I wonder why JDC did not make it a priority to preserve the pagan 'temples' and 'holy' sites in the development of Jeju Island? From where we are, we can't really comment on what should or not have been done there as we don't have the facts and are not familiar with local culture and social priorities. Are those in question noteworthy tourist attractions? Are they untouchable sacred places of worship deserving preservation of national order? Couldn't they be relocated to more convenient locations? How come they appear to be on private properties, therefore encroaching on land owner's private rights of ownership? Beats me especially when JDC is a statutory body tasked with overseeing development in Jeju. Perhaps it wasn't really an issue before it was turned into an one?

Privatisation should never a preferred option when a listed entity has a healthy and balanced market following for practical reasons. If the business has just come through a long rough period and is heading into better times ahead, then for ethical reasons.

You should only consider privatisating when the market seriously undervalues your stocks despite repeated zealous but fruitless publicity and promotional efforts to correct market perceptions. Or when shareholders are doggedly difficult snd unsupportive of your visions and business directions.

Listing a portion of the equity in another bigger bourse to reach a wider range of investors with capital looking for decent returns can provide a lift in the share price to boost your war chest.

When everything is going well, your listed flagship can be like a money printing machine or a doorway to free capital or low interests funds.

There are many other pros and cons to be listed but it is boring to go on.

But remember your shareholders who have a hand in making your dreams come true. Don't abandon them but bring them along the journey to greater success. Afterall, there is infinite wealth in the universe but fair weather never lasts forever.

Our local IBs used to call high TPs when AA's price was sliding seemingly towards oblivion and have now turned meek as mice to call lower TPs, some even below trending market price. They can't feel the pulse of AA, hence are always behind the curve.

I think Everbright's real role is as a facilitator to make the whole deal succeed. Financial clout is the key to making this project work. I have not read any news yet but I would guess that TF's main thrust will include AA privatising AAX thus releasing cash to himself and an attempt to to privatise AA which will be difficult unless he pays the minoritties a premium. However even if privatisation of AA fails, TF will still come out winning because he would have garnered a lot of AA shares in the process and the value is increasing by big strides. Look at the volumes traded in 2016 alone, over 1 billion after the 2015Q4 results and over 700 million in Jan and Feb.

Not to worry too much. Koreans are tough but fair and honourable people. Local partner of Berjaya is the Jeju Free International City Development Centre (JDC) which is a statutory agency established within South Korea's Ministry of Construction and Transportation, and JDC oversees the development of Jeju Island.

Berjaya Jeju Resort Ltd (BJR), the master developer for the development of 74.37 hectare land in Yerae-Dong, Seogwipo-Si, is an 81:19 joint venture between Berjaya Leisure (Cayman) Ltd and JDC. BJR is suing JDC. I am sure they are on good talking terms.

Their court will decide on what is fair for everybody.

You can see in Google Map that most of the buildings in Phase 1 have already reached an advanced stage of completion. The structures and exterior wallings appear completed.

BJCorp should be claiming damages and loss of profits not just compensation. It will be a positive outcome but the profits could have been a lot more had the project not been abrogated.

Sure we can expect a negative knee-jerk reaction from the market tomorrow but incidents like today's attacks are nothing new, unfortunately, and the world will deal with the problem and life goes on.

With the appreciation of the Ringgit against the Dollar, AA will enjoy more savings on its 70% USD dominated expenses. Assuming a total annual expenses of MYR5 billion, a 5% appreciation of the Ringgit can rake up an additional savings of MYR175 million a year or 6.3c/share. That will boost AA's earnings into the ballpark of 54.6c/share for FY2016 and therefore a TP of 3.28.

I see the stakes being raised incrementally from time to time as the sellers' shares dry up at each subsequent price level where they are stocked.

The skeptics, faint-hearted and the easily-contented will be weeded out from the throngs of players early. The sure-footed 'fundamentals' investors, the galiant ones and the greedy optimisers will continue on.

Eventually, the 'big men' with thick cheque books will come to sweep up all the shares in the market they can get at the fair price supported by AA's fundamentals. As long as TF continues to deliver as he does, it is a calculated safe and rewarding bet to stay in the line for a longer time.

This is just a simplistic form of my view. It may or may not happen but I haven't stopped buying.

That is true about Malaysians being cautious with their money and it is not a bad habit.

But FFs are having a galore time mopping up AA shares at low levels in the meantime. Who else, apart from possibly TF agents, could be buying when locals have no stomach for percieved risks associated with airline stocks despite AA's fine fundamentals now and the foreseeable future?

When there is daily rangebound trading with volume and the price barely creeps up, and local funds & retailers are not accumulating but probably selling, where else can the shares end up with? If the FFs are not rolling the price up, it can only mean accumulation on their part and on the cheap. If they are short term operators, the rolling up will happen sometime ahead. If they are longer term investors, the market will be dry up sometime ahead and subsequent buyers will push up the price because demand greater than supply.

I tkink FFs' present average costs are nearer 1.70 than 1.65.

Not interested in any deals with CIMB or MBSB. Bought and holding this counter because of deep p/bv discount, small dividend yield while waiting for price rebound on completion of conversion to a pure banking entity, and lastly consider RHB Bank a desirable takeover target with possible high capital appreciation.

Not a liquid trading counter because being tightly held by several major shareholders so it is good that EPF disposed 11.234 million shares in the open market between 25 Dec 2015 and 15 Mar 2016.

Now that so many things have improved by leaps and bounds, AA certainly had a lot of catching up to do this year. Most leading airlines in the world have recovered from their lows in the last 5 years and improved manyfold on their stock prices, some by as much as 600%.

I see AA price ascending towards 3.00 unabatingly as early as June this year. The 2016Q1 results will see to that happening.

Precursors to be seen for a hefty upward price realignment to happen need to be improved earnings outlook and consistency, higher and special dividends declaration, significant increased foreign account holdings, increased local institutions participation, and major news spread and promotion by corporation of new lofty business directions.

Just be careful, traders. The foreign funds in the market so far are not the long long term or pension money types but rather the arbitrageur type who come in when they see price/value imbalances and disappear when there is no more profit to reap.

So far, there is no sign of any new large shareholder yet in the picture other than TF n associates. The only big boys we have seen are EPF and Wellingtons and they are exiting the last time we knew.

Wow, imagine adding another 2.25 million bpd (insisted by Iran) to the mild surplus of 760 thousand bpd assessed by OPEC. Fuel prices will be much lower than previously estimated for AA. Very positive effect.

However it will only be a matter of time before the market expects to benefit from low oil costs in the form of lower ticket prices. It is timely that AA has regained its former robust form and will stand formidable in the face of competition for more market share.

In Round 1, you saw the 0.765 Low and 1.61 High. For me, Round 2 started when it hit the new Low of 1.26 in Dec 2015.

2016 began with some token fireworks in the 2nd and 3rd trading days, teased the market in the next 8 weeks until the release of 2015Q4 results and the price promptly started to climb with volume, resolutely, till now.

For some, it was all done in the short 5-day rally touching 1.75 and they had exited in the next 5 days citing exhaustion, big funds selling, TF selling, oil rising, TA indicators screaming overbought, and so forth as excuses to run, for now maybe.

For some others, things are only starting to heat up and promising to happen. For all the good reasons to run, why is the price still rising? Is there a bonanza shortly ahead?

I believe after coming through the challenging times in the last 4 years or so, AA will be very strong and hard to beat. Therefore my Round 2 may last a few years until AA makes it to the big league by which time, it should be paying out good dividends regularly. Then it will be a stock to hold like Public Bank Bhd.

No, EPF has not bailed out completely yet. It is no longer a substantial shareholder but still holds the following as at the end of 4 Mar 2016; Direct shareholding 123,684,200, Indirect shareholding 14,995,200. Total shareholding 138,679,400 (4.983%).

Why is the EPF selling off their AA shares relentlessly? Is it because AA is a hapless troubled airline, in a sunset industry, has a flawed business model, has mediocre management team or the cabin staff are poorly dressed? Or because another substantial shareholder, a foreign one at that, started to offload first or because some zealous research house, a foreign one too, wrote a damning negative report on the airline and AA's positive response and turnaround within 5 months just doesn't measure up in their eyes? Is it because they are many other better Malaysian companies for them to choose over AA to invest the retirement savings Malaysian workers have entrusted upon them to manage?

Are we not proud of AirAsia, a homegrown brand of a world beater company which has been blazing on its roll to success? Does the EPF know something that we are not aware of?

I like Icon8888's analysis the most among all those floating around.

I am more bullish of the potential fuel savings in FY16 though. A Mayban Research dated 29 Feb 2016 has put 30% of AA's 2016 jet fuel requirements as being hedged at USD52 a barrel. I think it is unnecessary to do much fuel hedging in 2016. We can play by the ear as we go along meanwhile but I do not see a runnaway fuel price in the foreseeable future.

The first Qtr is almost done. The average price is be nowhere near USD59, maybe USD42. Today it is around USD48 and may nudge up somemore before sliding back due to overwhelming supplies being unleashed into the market.

My take for AA's 2016 average fuel price is USD50. That is an additional amount of MYR232m in fuel savings or 8.3sen per share. Extending earnings of 48.3sen/share by a PE ratio of 6 gives a share price of MYR2.90.
