# CT - so you are in into Willow. Note that this is another stock pick by kcchongnz who has done a splendid job. Just look at his selection which has far outperformed the KLSE as well as trust funds in the last 3 months. My gains in Fibon and Homeritz were indirectly linked to his selections. However I only trade in those counters below RM 1. His other picks like Datasonic and Pintaras are doing exceptionally well too. I reckon he is being followed by even the fund managers. Take another example, I entered FLB on Wednesday at 81 sen and subsequently seek his views on this stock yesterday. His feedback is that it is a good stock to invest and straightaway it shot up to 89 sen yesterday. Having said that do bear in mind that most, if not all of his selections are for long term investment using FA but surprisingly counters like Fibon and Homeritz etc which are normally thinly traded have seen high volumes in recent weeks.

# Good morning to all and Happy Deepavali. Just back from the market. After a hard week's work in the office, or in the site or in the stock market, it's time for us to relax from stress, to renew our trading portfolio and to recharge our energy levels and to be ready for next week's challenging tasks !

sensemaker - every "sentence" of yours makes "sense". And every "sen" it drops provides a buying opportunity. Your logic is much more "sensible" than the tirade group who I reckon is "sending" the wrong signals. All the best !

choolooi, ya not only I play numbers (small bets only) but I am very good at numbers also since I was young. For numbers less than 1,000 I do not need to use a calculator for additions, subtractions and multiplications. However a bit slow for division. At times my mental maths is faster than someone using a calculator.

CT - I thought your function is with the big tycoons so that you can get some information on Sarawak counters - Naim. CMSB, Dayang, KKB, Scable, Instaco, WTK, SOP etc.

Anyway I reckon you have seen hidden gem's posting where he has tasked you to check out the identities of the other ladies in this thread.

from Kinibiz -

Analysts have reiterated their calls on Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), after the government linked utility company released its financial year 2013 fourth quarter (4Q13) and full year results yesterday.

This is despite TNB’s profits falling in 4Q13 on the back of higher operating expenditure to the tune of RM940.1 million and a RM200 million capacity payment for the Tanjung Bin power plant in the preceding quarter, said a Kenanga Investment Bank (Kenanga) report. TNB’s quarterly earnings were also impacted as TNB made a provision of RM348.9 million provision in 4Q13 to account for the market gas price as it required more than the guaranteed Petronas’ supply of 1,250mmscfd.

Full year results however were very positive for TNB, as it recorded a stronger full year financial performance on the back of favourable exchange rates and fuel costs overall, gas supply resolution (Malacca regasification plant), and was awarded new power plants, said an Public Investment Bank (PIVB) analyst report – as TNB saw its full year ended Aug 31, 2013 net profit grow to RM4.61 billion (RM4.41 billion in FY12) on the back of increased revenue of RM37.13 billion (RM35.85 billion in FY12).

According to the bank backed research house, revenue growth was driven by higher electricity sales; while profits were also helped by lower fuel costs which fell 6.1% year-on-year (y-o-y) to RM14.8 billion from RM15.8 billion in FY12.

power-grid-electricMeanwhile a RHB Investment Bank (RHB Investment) report said that going forward, structural reforms could see the fuel cost pass through (FCPT) formula being implemented as the government recently reiterated its stance on subsidy rationalisation during the Budget 2014 announcement. As this formula would mean that any changes to fuel costs being pushed on to the consumer, TNB will be insulated to a greater degree from the volatility of the market.

Furthermore, the report also noted that the company’s management is also hopeful that there will be a rollout of incentive based regulations and possibly the setting up of a stabilisation fund; should these measures be put into place it will be positive for TNB.

On the back of TNB’s latest earnings results, Kenanga has raised its FY14 ans FY15 earnings assumptions by 3% and 4%, on the back of USD/MYR forex adjusting to RM3.16 and RM3.05 from RM3.00 and RM2.95, the effective tax rate being reduced to 25% from 30% and its issued share base growing from 5.45 billion to 5.64 billion.

Kenanga is maintaining its ‘outperform’ call on TNB, and keeping the stock as its top pick in the power sector, while in line with the earnings upgrade and the understated position of TNB’s issued share base previously, Kenanga is lowering its target price to RM10.45 from RM10.48 previously.

PIVB meanwhile reiterated its ‘outperform’ call with an unchanged target price of RM10.48 based on a discounted cash flow (DCF) model, which implies FY14 price earnings ratio of 14x. The research outfit also highlighted that TNB is likely to be the biggest beneficiary of structural reforms in the power sector and that its valuations are undemanding at this juncture.

Finally RHB Investment maintained the utility giant at ‘buy’, while trimming its FY14-FY15 estimates slightly by 0.5% and 0.6% respectively in light of the recently released results. That being said with structural reforms likely to be instituted soon, RHB Investment says it is revising TNB’s fair value higher to RM10.65 from RM10.13 previously.

swee88 - from Bernama

Tenaga Nasional Bhd has posted a higher net profit of RM4.61 billion for its financial year ended Aug 31, 2013 from RM4.41 billion a year earlier on the back of the strengthening ringgit, higher demand for electricity and lower coal price.

Revenue for the year soared to RM37.13 billion versus RM35.84 billion last year, reflecting a 3.8%unit electricity demand growth in Peninsular Malaysia during the financial year.

Operating expenses rose by 1.8 per cent from the previous year. TNB Chairman Tan Sri Leo Moggie said the pattern of the electricity demand growth in Peninsular Malaysia tracked the growth of the country’s gross domestic product.

“In the medium term, we continue to expect steady electricity demand growth in tandem with the projected economic growth by commercial sectors,” he said at the fourth quarter results announcement today.

For the financial year 2013, TNB announced a total dividend of 25 sen per ordinary share. Savings in electricity generation costs were mainly derived from the lower average coal price during the financial year of US$83.6 per metric tonne as compared to US$103.6 per metric tonne during the last financial year, registering a decline of 19.3 per cent over the 12-month period.
