KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 18): Mlabs Systems Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary Multimedia Research Lab Sdn Bhd (MRL) is teaming up with XOX Media Sdn Bhd (XOX Media) to enhance the functions of XOX Bhd's Voopee mobile application.

The collaboration between MRL and XOX Media, a wholly-owned unit of XOX, will also exploit the potential market arising from XOX Media's collaboration with PT Inovasi Telematika Nusantara and Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU).

In a statement to Bursa Malaysia, Mlabs said the memorandum of understanding (MoU) inked between MRL and XOX Media calls for the enhancement of Voopee — a SIM-free smartphone application — in several areas.

This include the exchange of technology involved in multimedia video conferencing, server system and equipment, integration of MRL's mobile application that has multipoint voice call features, sharing of technology relating to incorporation of video conferencing and file sharing features and joint research and development in the areas of multimedia video conferencing and mobile application with voice and video conferencing features.

PT Inovasi is a company incorporated in Indonesia and is principally engaged in the business of telecommunication services. On the other hand, PBNU is the largest independent Islamic organisation in the world and also acts as a charitable body that funds schools, hospitals and various communities that help alleviate poverty in the country.

XOX had on July 28 this year announced its MoU with PT Inovasi and PBNU for the development and deployment of the Voopee solution under the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) brand.

"The partnership sought to develop and deploy XOX's proprietary Voopee mobile app for integration into a new SIM card under the NU brand to service PBNU's estimated 90 million members," Mlabs said in a separate statement.

"Mlabs is excited to announce the seal on this MoU and is confident that a definitive agreement will crystallise to benefit all parties in this tie-up," it said.

Mlabs settled unchanged at 21 sen with about 24.4 million shares traded.

So Media must cut staffs in 3 divisions(TV network, Print Media and Home shopping) to turnaround if no sign of improvements in business.

After checking QR released on Monday main reason for loss is televison network(RM 20.7 million) , print media(RM 159.4(inc RM 142.4 million impairment loss)) million and home shopping(RM 8.8 million) loss respectively.

Govn cannot help cut more jobs please. Ask EPF whether true.

Why cannot give chance to Xinghe to move? Xinghe also low PE ma.

Xinghe and HengYuan both China owners and dealings with oil products. Xinghe make peanut oil. Why different RM 7.5 in price? Both low PE and no dividend.

ECRL is our PM Najib biggest construction job to date. Perhaps he want to help his loyal supporter Felda settlers who mostly reside in Pahang to improve their lives?

Star did not give ECRL land acquistion cost. Why? Quietly collecting now?
