The order is based on “information that reasonably indicates their use of forced labour and manufacturing operations”, CBP said in a statement.
It added that it identified 10 of the International Labour Organisation’s indicators of forced labour during its investigation.
Federal Statute 19 U.S.C. 1307 prohibits the importation of merchandise produced, wholly or in part, by convict labour, forced labour, and/or indentured labour, including forced or indentured child labour.
“With 10 of the 11 forced labour indicators identified during the course of our investigation, CBP has sufficient evidence to conclude that Supermax Corp Bhd and its subsidiaries produce gloves in violation of US trade law,” said CBP office of trade executive assistant commissioner AnnMarie R. Highsmith.

Supermax over forced labour claims
KUALA LUMPUR – Supermax Corp Bhd is the latest Malaysian company to have its products barred from entering the United States over allegations of forced labour.
The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) today issued a withhold release order (WRO) against Supermax and its subsidiaries – Maxter Glove Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, Maxwell Glove Manufacturing Bhd and Supermax Glove Manufacturing Sdn Bhd.

The US government is taking a pretty drastic step in their attempt to manage the current chip shortage that’s affecting various industries around the world. They are now moving to pressure global chipmakers like Samsung and TSMC to share sensitive internal information to improve the transparency of the crisis and identify the bottlenecks.
The US government wants to know information regarding their chip inventory, orders and sales data. Foundries are given 45 days to respond to the voluntary request. Samsung and TSMC usually does not disclose such data, as it will reveal their client lists, among other things. Usually it is up to the client to disclose which foundry they are working with for a certain product.

KUALA LUMPUR: Inisiatif gelembung pelancongan ke Langkawi menyaksikan peningkatan ketara pembelian tiket penerbangan AirAsia, sekali gus membuktikan orang ramai kini bersedia untuk melakukan kembali perjalanan pelancongan.

PAHANG – PAS Berserah state assemblyman Andansura Rabu said that the pandemic has improved people’s lives. Furthermore, he claimed that it has caused the crime rate to plummet.
As a result, he advised Pahang state government to develop new policies after the pandemic, reported Sin Chew Daily.
In particular, he vowed to transform the state into a “zero gambling centers and nightclubs” zone. This includes shutting down the Genting Casino.
He made these claims during a debate session at the Pahang State Legislative Assembly today.
Andansura Rabu said that while all entertainment centres were closed during the MCO period, there were no burglary cases because people stayed home.
