So, let take this scenario below as an example to elaborate further so that everyone who is interested in learning and knowing about CW would benefit from this.

1) Today, mother share price RM 0.45

2) Today, C88 share price RM 0.10, and you buy 100k shares and pick up. (Hold)

3) C88 will expire on 17 Nov 2023 with exercise price of RM 0.35

The last trading day for C88 is 3 days before its expiry date, that is 17th Nov - 3 = 14th Nov (taking public holiday into consideration? I'm not sure. Assuming it counts by days regardless of holiday)

To determine the final share price for calculating and determining C88 actual value, the issuer will take the last 5 trading days (13th Nov to 17th Nov) closing price in order to calculate the average price for the mother. Assuming the last 5 days average price is RM 0.55.

Scenario #1) IN THE MONEY (winning)❤️:

Locked mother share price at RM 0.55

As such, C88 is in the money. That is, the mother share price LESS exercise price is calculated as follows:

RM 0.55 - RM 0.35 = RM 0.20

So, you have C88 100k shares bought at RM 0.10 and hold until 17th Nov 2023 (expired and you didn't sell or forgot to sell). These C88 100k shares are still yours.

So, the issuer will get ready the money to pay to you, since your investment is IN THE MONEY. That's 100k shares x 0.2 = RM 20k. (Opsss, I didn't dare to use 1mil shares to elaborate, but John dares, hero.)

In summary, you invested RM 10k, you get back RM 20k after C88 expired.

Note: issuer may pay via cheque or EPS (electronic payment for shares? Or must be cheque? Not sure.)

Scenerio #2) OUT OF MONEY (losing but not 100%)😯😓:

Locked mother share price at RM 0.40 (last 5 days average price)

As such, C88 is in the money. That is, the mother share price LESS exercise price is calculated as follows:

RM 0.40 - RM 0.35 = RM 0.05

The issuer will pay you RM 0.05 x 100k = RM 5000 and your investment incurred a loss of RM 5k.

Scenerio #3) OUT OF MONEY (losing 100%):

Locked mother share price at RM 0.30 (last 5 days average price)

As such, C88 is "OUT OF MONEY".

That is, the mother share price LESS exercise price is calculated as follows:

RM 0.30 - RM 0.35 = -negative RM 0.05

The issuer will not pay you anything as it is "negative".

-RM 0.05 x 100k = -RM 5000.
Thus, the issuer will not pay you anything.
You loss all your C88 investment amount. Crying without tear 😥😂😓😖 RM 0!!!

Wao. Dear John, u r so familiar with covered wrt (cw)? I have no idea about it. In order to share more on your idea, you may share with all the investors in this thread the following:

1) how to exercise when expired?
2) how many days before the expiry date the cw will stop trading on the mkt?
3) cw, if expired, if not sold the cw, after expiry date, it will become $0 right?
4) or, before expires, how many before expires need to "exercise" it (top up cash to exercise? )
5) if topup cash based on the exercise price, exercise price x qty on hand, total $ to pay to issuer? If so, the exercise is not letting the investors to obtain and own the mother shares right? This amount of $, where it goes to?
6) If no extra cash to top up to exercise those shares on hand, and those shares are not sold before expires, these shares will become $0 value and burnt off?
Etc etc.

Kindly share with all investors if you could.

In the PDF love letter which Botak Lim announced, the merger excise, may cause the public shareholdings become < 25%, Botak Lim will seek for "an exception" with Bursa to reduce the 25% to 15%? Hope I read the love letter correctly. This is ONE of the REASONS why I am always with 1589 instead of 8877 as 8877 is more fatty (2bil) vs 900mil the slim with less market float (big guys hold most of the shares!) Hence, 1589 is easier to PUSH up (from 0.3 to 0.8 like kacang putih).
