Government-Linked corporations are companies listed in the bursa KLCI which are having a strong influence by government. Some of these stocks you can look at are George Kent, Maybank, Tenaga, Telekom, Gamuda, CIMB. You can also check the stock share holdings to see who are the top 10 investors. For this you go to www.bursamarketplace.com, you want to see KWSP and any other govt institutions among the investors.

Since you are young, i think you should choose some potential growth Small Cap company rather than those stock merely for the GE 14. Long term growth stock is more important than short term catalysis like GE14.

As a newbie in stockmarket, you must also develop an attitude and mentality towards stocks. Dont ever act like being cockiness or arrogant or trying to be like an experienced sifu-wannabe like CP Teh. Once you got the right frame of mind, then slowly do your homework. I am sure you can be a good trader in the future.
