It is misleading to assume HSR can reduce RM9.2bil lost per year due to road accidents. HSR maybe can reduce 20%. That's only rm1.84bil per year cost saving.
No HSR, Johor property value still ok. EDL Gemas-Johor is still on. Furthermore, i believe ECRL will be realigned to connect Gemas avoid tunneling Titiwangsa range to lower the cost. So, whole malaysia north-south-east all EDL connected albeit at cheaper cost
I support scraping the HSR at this time when we just can't afford it : 1) We won't have 431,000 passengers per day; not even 10% of it. Wait till we have enough tickets sale volume to build; meaning Malaysia need a population of perhaps 50 million people or close to that of Japan; and 2) We cannot compare our economy with Japan, USA or even Singapore( these are developed nations status) with high debt ratio. Their national productivity ratio are also v high for comparison; and 3) My friend in Sydney said even Sydney-Melbourne HSR was scrapped bcos there is just not enough tickets volume to justify the project as Australia too does not have the population to support this.
The accident statistic are fine; but there is other ways to reduce this which our new transport Minister is thinking of new ways to reduce it.
Japanese Government Debt to GDP ratio is 230% because they blindly build HSR and airport all over the countries causing stagnant growth for the past 30 years. The information that Calvin provide is a smoke screen to divert attention to the real issue.
For a bottom 5 of 2017 stock challenge this tan eng sure has a garbage to spare.Sure lah, everyone likes a taste of abalone. But if only have money to buy nasi kandar, abalone will have to wait.So simple, you also dun understand.Wakaka.
USA has no HSR and is still the most innovative country in the world. They invented electricity, light bulbs, telephone, internet and etc. HSR is a expensive toy for Malaysians who reside in Singapore to travel back to Malaysia.

@Cavintan hi cavin Ivan9511 here, can ask one of your last time stock - KLSE: PRKCORP (8346) PERAK CORP BHD
do you think can buy and keep now below 50sen only ? can advise my frnd ? thanks
Actually I thought of buying What holds me back? Auditor says that debt is now more than total asset value of Perak Corp. If what auditor say is true then Perak Corp is insolvent - then Pn17?
If the Assets after revaluation can still cover borrowing then Perak Corp should survive. Its ports in Lumut is a Cash cow.
Mind your own business. Don’t meddle with Malaysia. You will make a fast buck if HSR is on by your conniving ways. At last Malaysia will suffer out of the debt. Why not go and ask your PM to bear cost 50:50 for the project if you are really so interested?
The comparison with Shinkansen is inappropriate because the fare charged on Shinkansen is very high whereas the fare for HSR is capped by the busiest air route in the world ie KL to Singapore, which can go as low as RM100.
With the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail (HSR) aborted, Singapore’s Jurong Lake District could lose some of its shine. However, the ramifications for Iskandar Malaysia in Johor could be more far-reaching.
After all, Iskandar Malaysia — which is three times the size of Singapore — was always regarded as Singapore’s potential hinterland. The HSR would have been instrumental in completing that connection.
The planned HSR project has seven stations in Malaysia: Bandar Malaysia, followed by Putrajaya, Seremban, Melaka, Muar, Batu Pahat and Iskandar Puteri, before terminating in Jurong East, Singapore.
Iskandar Malaysia has been suffering from a glut in high-rise condominiums and lacklustre sales since Malaysia introduced property cooling measures in 2014. The HSR and the station at Iskandar Puteri would have been a much-needed shot in the arm to revive its fortunes.
Developers with projects in Iskandar Malaysia — from Malaysian developers to those from China, Singapore and elsewhere — “are all disappointed”, says Khoo. “It is a setback for Iskandar Malaysia if the HSR does not go through.”
It is misleading to assume HSR can reduce RM9.2bil lost per year due to road accidents. HSR maybe can reduce 20%. That's only rm1.84bil per year cost saving. 02/06/2018 14:36
Every single human life is precious
No HSR?
Next 54 years 400,000 Malaysians will die on the highways
Japan panjang, China vast landform... of course need hsr. Msia, not so panjang kecil je...if u speed huh, 3-4hrs fr Kl to Spore x problem! Kikikkk... About same time if take flight ( waiting time + flying time etc). If can give trucks n bikes special lanes, sure will make highway safer.. I hate bikes racing middle of highway, trucks overtaking each other! Self driven trucks on truck lane is perfect solution! Other countries testing it, hope make it here soon!
