Nomura Malaysia’s head of equity research Tushar Mohata believes that AMMB is unlikely to merge at the banking level currently. A key reason is that there is a large valuation gap between it and the other banks.

“Valuations may be hard to agree upon. AMMB is currently trading at a price-to-book value (PBV) of 0.5 times, while other banks have a higher PBV. So, unless the banks are willing to give [AMMB] a premium to make it a merger of equals, AMMB’s shareholders may not be willing to give up their stakes,” he tells The Edge.

Look at SG trio banks (UOB, DBS, OCBC) all time high. 10y treasury yield is about to break above 2% too. Nothing to worry, just collect slowly.

P/B = 0.67, ROE = 9%, P/E = 7.68. Super value buy.

Just buy the dip before interest rate starts rising and hold until interest rate stops rising, now a lot of funds still stuck at tech. When interest rate starts rising, confirm will rotate here.

Just buy when dip when have cash and hold until interest rate stops rising.

Ambank is relatively still much cheaper (hence a better pick) than the closest comparable peers, RHB and ABMB in terms of valuation (trading at 0.7 P/B compare to RHB and ABMB trading at 0.84).

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will reopen its borders to international travellers starting April 1, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Tuesday (March 8).
The Prime Minister said visitors, as well as Malaysian returnees, who are fully vaccinated are not required to undergo quarantine upon arrival.
They, however, must undergo a RT-PCR test two days before departure and a rapid test (RTK) upon arrival.
As for travellers who have not been fully vaccinated, Ismail Sabri said the entry procedures will be explained by Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin on Wednesday (March 9).
?As part of our ?Transitioning to Endemicity? phase, the government has decided to reopen the country?s borders from April 1.
?This move will revive the country?s economy, especially the tourism industry that has been heavily affected by the pandemic.
?The decision is made based on science and current facts related to Covid-19, as well as the reopening of borders in other countries...
