2.8 is good price. Possible merger i guess. Its hard for ambank to rise back to rm 5 like last time with the reputation. Share price had been slowly coming down for few years. And now the write off completed, hopefully a new page.

@alenac i believe management changed somewhat already. Settlement paid. Hopefully ambank can rise with clean slate. Recent PP is oversubscribed by many institutions. They must know past is behind and confident with the new managament. That said 2.8billion is no small amount. Probably not significant point, but epf and sharebuyback slowly done in background at 2.9ish price.

Ok, no problem with your optimism. Probably no dividend for the next 3 years. ANZ would probably have regretted ever invested in a crony bank and willing to unload asap for tarnishing its image to be associated to Ambank.

CGS-CIMB Securities Sdn Bhd has maintained a ‘Reduce’ call on AMMB Holdings Bhd after the banking group announced the sale of its 51% stake in the general insurance unit, AmGeneral Insurance Bhd (AGIB), to Liberty Insurance Bhd (LIB) for RM2.29 billion consideration.

The brokerage firm’s analyst Winson Ng stated that the deal could reduce general insurance business’ earnings contribution to AMMB in the longer term despite a potential one-off disposal gain.

Ambank 将旗下持有51%股权的保险业务AmGeneral Insurance脱售给外资保险公司Liberty Mutual，是好是坏？

近日，笔者收到许多读者的inbox，问了有关以上问题。

有些读者质问，Ambank是不是因为赔了1MDB高达28亿令吉和解金，陷入现金短缺的困境，被迫选择脱手保险业务来套现？

笔者认为不完全是。

AmGeneral是由AmBank和IAG联营的保险公司，前者持有51%股权，后者持49%股权。它是大马第二大的汽车普通保险（General Insurance）公司，国内6辆汽车中，就有一辆由它提供保险服务。Kurnia也是由AmGeneral持有。

其实，此项交易案不是100%以现金完成，而是通过现金和股权交换（Share crossing）的方式，将AmGeneral脱售。AmGeneral 和Liberty Insurance将会被整合成一家新的联号公司。完成交易后，AmBank持有该联号公司30%的股权，同时与之保持为期20年的银行保险（Bancassurance）合作伙伴关系。

笔者对这计划其实不感意外，因为AmBank曾两次提及要推出普险市场。

AmBank和IAG早在2017年首次探讨出售AmGeneral，当时Allianze被列入潜在买家名单。不过因未能获得国家银行的批准，最终以失败告吹。直到去年，两者重新洽谈脱售计划。

然而，AmBank这次选择了“半退场”模式，脱售AmGeneral，但仍以联营身份在普险市场占一席地。

2012年，AmGeneral以RM1.50bil收购Kurnia时，成交价为2.0倍P/B，而本次AmGeneral的成交价只得1.4倍的P/B，低于9年前的收购。相信是由当前的经济局势所致，银行业目前较低的ROE导致了估值不高的情况。

AmGeneral一直以来贡献AmBank约7%-8%的净利，保险业务的股权被削减后，估计AmBank 盈利将被拉低2-3%。

当然，这计划有弊也有利。在股权脱售中，估计AmBank可从中赚得RM300-400mil的一次性脱售收益。早前因1MDB赔偿金而受影响的CET 1 ratio也会有所提提升，改善资产素质。

整体上，笔者认为此项企业计划更倾向利好一面，AmBank因1MDB赔偿金一事而元气大伤，但这一课题已告一段落。这次的脱售案有望帮助该银行重振旗鼓，至于要多久回到正常水平就要看银行业复苏进展如何了

不过，他指出，有关宣布仅落实在成人疫苗接种率达50%的州属，而想要享有这些方便的人也必须得完成两剂疫苗的注射。期间，他就以巴生谷为例指出， 该区18岁以上的接种率已经达到64.7%， 因此可以获准重启11项经济活动。

他表示，届时，民众得出示数字证书，证明自己已经完成接种2剂疫苗。

“我再次提醒，完全接种的意思是注射第二剂双剂型疫苗后的 14 天，而单剂疫苗则是 28 天后才算完成。”

他也说，进一步详细指南，他将会在近期宣布。

More economic activities allowed in states under Phases 1 and 2 of NRP where half of adults fully vaccinated from Aug 16 — PM

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 15): Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today announced the government has agreed to allow 11 more economic activities to be reopened in states and federal territories under the Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), provided that 50% of the adult population have been fully vaccinated.

In a statement today, Muhyiddin said that the consumers looking to take part in the economic activities must have received full vaccination and that owners of the businesses must ensure that the customers entering their premises show the Covid-19 Vaccination Digital Certificate to prove that the individuals have indeed received full vaccination.

The 11 economic activities allowed to reopen effective Aug 16 (Monday):
• Car washes
• Electrical and electronic stores
• Home goods and kitchenware stores
• Furniture stores
• Sports equipment stores
• Car accessory stores
• Car dealers and distributors
• Morning markets and farmers' markets
• Clothing, fashion and accessories shops
• Jewellers
• Barbers and hair and beauty salons

Further, Muhyiddin also announced that the government has agreed to allow another 11 more economic activities for states and federal territories under Phase 2 of the NRP.

They are:
• Photography stores
• Second-hand goods stores
• Florists and nurseries
• Handicraft and souvenir shops
• Antique shops
• Toy stores
• Carpet stores
• Businesses involved in creative content and providing equipment for creative industries
• Outdoor sports stores (including camping, fishing equipments, etc)
• Cosmetics, skin care and perfume stores
• Vape and electronic cigarette stores

Muhyiddin reminded that fully vaccinated individuals are defined as those who have received two doses of Covid-19 vaccine for more than 14 days. These vaccines are Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Sinovac vaccines.

Meanwhile, Individuals who have received single-dose vaccines such as Johnson & Johnson and Cansino will be considered fully inoculated 28 days after they have received the jab.

Muhyiddin also announced that the government has agreed to allow public recreational parks for states and federal territories in Phase 1 to be opened for recreational activities.

However, only individual activities such as jogging, cycling and exercise are allowed, in line with the sports and leisure standard operating procedures in Phase 1.

"This decision is very important for people to get more time to be out in the open and have a better ventilation system than just being confined at home. So, I really hope that this will not be abused," he added.

As at today, states are federal territories in Phase 1 are Kedah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, and Putrajaya.

Meanwhile, states in Phase 2 are Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, and Sabah.

States and federal territory in Phase 3 are Perlis, Sarawak, and Labuan.

It is worth noting that the current full vaccination rate in the Greater Klang Valley is at 64.7% of the adult population, and 47.4% of total population, according to the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force.
