Tis new variant found in South Africa will be quite easily contained and it’s pretty much localized there. We’re already 2 yrs into the pandemic and all countries in d world already hv systems in place to prevent another mayhem upon an existing unsettled mayhem. Looking back, Delta variant found in world’s 2nd most populous India did not derail scientific research significantly in finding a solution quickly. This knee-jerk price reaction will recover faster than anyone cud imagine.

Seasoned wealthy investors will face tis bloodbath with calm and a rational mind. In fact, it’s a good buying opportunity for them. Only most others will panic and run in random directions getting themselves burnt to dead. One thing is for sure - tis NOT gonna be the end of tis world!!! So, just relax, stay calm and enjoy the weekend.

Agree with Peaches L. The world is much better prepared now than before. A lot more scientific knowledge than when the virus 1st spread in early 2020 and remedy , be it new vaccine or anti-viral pills, can be available much quicker to contain the problem. No need to panic at all.

Cash position = 36%

There have been, many other 'variants of concern' in the past. Ultimately, Delta is dominant, and even then, the current vaccines provide protection. With mRNA vaccines which can be designed in a matter of days (Moderna's ground-breaking mRNA-1273 was finalised in 2 days), antivirals from Pfizer and Merck which target parts of the virus that is not changed, diagnostics, logistics and medical infrastructure, the new variant will, like all the variants, once more be banished into obscurity. In reality, the act of investing is really fun if one does it the correct way by being a true investor w a longer term view (shud d unexpected happens) and, not as a punter. So, it’s beyond my comprehension why such overreaction and unnecessary stress. After all, GENT & GENM r dark-blue chip stocks and d companies r well managed w 50 years of excellent track record!!! Highly unlikely they w become PN17 stocks overnight.
No doubt, market movers hv powers to create volatility and opportunities for them to make money. Tht is beyond d control of most of us. As a true investor of our hard-earned capital, we r expected to face all market volatility heads on and shud hv the ability and capability to ride them out. In conclusion, dun stress unnecessarily and suffer ill-health bcoz of money. It’s really not worth it. Just my 2 cents.

....due to the delta concern, I took some profit in mid July at average about 4.90....after that it dropped to about 4.50+....

....but I waited, and missed collecting back what I sold...

....now, will monitor to see how :)

....lowest 3.05, highest 4.39....average at about 3.80

....took about 80k profit ....good enough la :p

....switched to lower beta MBB for its dividend :)
