GenP's 2021 Q4 net profit after tax n minority interest was rm161m. 2022 Q1 figure is rm116m. Average price of CPO in Q1 was abt 30% higher than in Q4. But net profit dropped by almost 30% compared to Q4. This Q1 result for GenP is way below my expectation :(

Surprised that some don't know about seasonal variation in fresh fruit bunch production......go study first before giving further comments.

Historically, Genting plantation has never been GenB core business and it only constituted around 10-12% of GenB's overall profit. If Genting Plantation is the appetizer, then casinos, leisure and hospitality are the main course of GenB. Therefore, if one has to examine the performance of GenB, GenS and GenM's performance are the determining factors as both of these contributed more than 80% of its bottomline. Uk, Egypt, US and Bahamas would be the dessert but these few countries are picking very well for the past few quarters and did it share of contribution. Furthermore, Genting Plantation's performance of 1st qtr isnt as bad as it looks. Year on year it achieved more than 80% increase which is a better reflection of its performance since oil palm is a cyclical crop which normally has a far better production period in the 4th qtr. Being in this line of business for over 30 years i know how it works. So all hope is not lost, and certainly not doom and gloom, it looks quite promising as a matter of fact, we just have to pin our hope on GenM Quarterly report tomorrow to provide a springboard for both companies to march forward.

I think average CPO is 20% high for Q2 compared to Q1, so assuming yield improve in Q2, profits will be fantastic. For Q1 compared to historical Qs, ok la. Looking forward to GenM and Genting results tomorrow :)

Always a good idea to lock in some profits along the way. You never know what will happen next in the current bad market condition. After a huge rally and expectations for good Q1 result is high, the risk of a sharp drop becomes higher. I have to manage my risk and position size. If Q1 result is stunningly good and price rally higher, heng ah. If Q1 result below expectation and price drop, heng also and quickly exit the balance. Safety always come first for me. The market will always be there to make the next investment or trade. But I have to make sure I survive (protect my precious capital) and doing ok (making more money than lose) in order to capitalise on the next opportunity the market offers.
