sharinginfoz - On the 4th on Jan ( ex-date for div ) the share price of Gkent auto drops 1.5cents ( opening ).and all shareholders before the 4th Jan 2019 will be entitled to dividends. They can sell on the 4th and isstill entitled to the div.

If you sell on 4 jan and forward you will still get the dividend. Because it takes T+3 to process for the transfer of share ownership. So for example you sell on 4/1 , later on the entitlement date 8/1 your name will still be on the list of shareholders therefore you will get your dividend

But with the condition that you must buy the share before the ex-date 4/1. You do not get the dividend if you buy on ex-date 4/1 and sell it after that

Remember this idiot 敏源 from Nanyang Siang Pao.
