Using market cycle is a good bet
In 2009, when us, Europe and Japan is printing cheap money. BAT price went up for 4 straight year.
In 2015 , when there is sell off in Asia share particularly China. It went downhill until today
Be patient wait for the next bullish mkt cycle.
Ps. Using quarterly chart for both klci and bat for comparison.

The Customs Department has increased the minimum fine to RM100,000 or a minimum jail term of six months or both for selling or smuggling contraband cigarettes from January this year. Previously, those found guilty were subject to a minimum of a day’s jail and/or a RM1,000 fine.

In the Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng’s Budget 2020 speech in October, on the government’s allocation of RM235 million to purchase 20 additional cargo scanners to be placed at strategic ports of entry.

I buy BAT because it is cheap, good dividend yield and the above reasoning.

Look at Bjtoto & Magnum. The government’s efforts to eradicate black market is bearing fruits.

I will say it will drop till rm 15 and below then consider a buy.No point accumulate now as trade war restart back.Someone say in this website 1200-1400 point which I fully agree.Look like if things get very bad the downside will be fast and steep not just Malaysia but other market.

Market noises and negativity are always good or it would have been impossible to accumulate BAT at current bottom fishing price of 14.54-14.66 range. I started too early at 16.30 but have no regrets as impact has since been minimised via aggressive cost averaging down strategy and approach. Similar situation happened to SP Setia at the 1.17-1.20 range & SKP at the 1.03-1.05 range too. Market has No Memory. Always remember : Time & Tide Waits For No Man.

The Q-to-Q result has stabilised. That means the bottom is already reached. If the government can wipe out the illegal 4D (I was told many 4D small black market operators have quit due to aggressive actions by the PH).

I expect the illegal / smuggled cigarette activities will soon face the same actions.

4D is different, it is nothing to do with health and environment, but smoking is affecting health to smokers and people beside them, that's why although gov need money from tax, but they wont easily adjust down the tax
