Popularity of chinese school (cs) is the product of our failed education policy. the generally low standards of the national schools and lack of importance being given to english as a subject is driving more and more parents, including malays, sending their children to cs. it is an undisputable fact the malay student population in cs is increasing year by year. why blame the chinese for sending their children to cs when other races are doing that?

both my 2 children went to cs for their primary education and national school for their secondary. they have absolutely no problem speaking, reading and writing in malay. so what's the problem.

if all students are allowed to enter local universities without race quota n discrimination to the non malays.. mca no need to specially create ktar n utar to provide tertiary educations to students who achieved good results but denied entry to local universities. furthermore, many are not from wealthy family. denied entry into local universities although they achieved excellent result is a big issues to them. this is because "education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" as i quote from the late nelson mandela

The CEO is undoubtedly the most important person in a company. But it’s absurd to pay the CEO a thousand times more than the worker, especially when the company is doing poorly and the shareholders are losing.

So a lot of these CEOs are not only ineffective but are paid too much?

There are very good CEOs and very good boards, but the system itself is dysfunctional. It’s all camouflaged today because the economy’s good, interest rates are low and the market is high. So shareholders aren’t really upset by it.

It’s called a democracy, but it’s a misnomer. It’s more of a totalitarian state, a dictatorship or at the very least a monarchy. That’s what you really have.

The Association of Water and Energy Research Malaysia (Awer) is not amused by some irresponsible, illogical, idiotic and lunatic attempts to point the recent flood as a "punishment from God", and neither do we take the current flooding as a rare occurrence.

In fact, if the destruction of our forests were to continue, imagine what will be the flood situation when only half of our current virgin forests are left? In the 10th Malaysia Plan, it was published that RM5 billion will be allocated for flood mitigation programmes (page 282)......extract from M..kini.......@ Ring I hv been telling in this forum stop cutting trees instead improve d yield from the existing land....d so called professionals hv no Brain?

Palm oil heads for longest rally since 2002
Posted on December 31, 2014, Wednesday

Palm oil climbed for a ninth day to head for the longest run of gains in more than a decade as flooding in Malaysia hurt prospects for harvesting, compounding a seasonal slowdown in production in the largest grower after Indonesia.

The contract for March delivery rose as much as 0.8 per cent to RM2,305 ringgit a metric tonne on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives and ended the morning session at RM2,292.

A ninth day of rising prices would be the longest run since June 2002, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The commodity climbed to RM2,308 on Monday, the highest level since November 4.

Don't cut trees at your whim, warns Najib

Prime Minister Najib Razak yesterday reminded all quarters to be more responsible to the environment and not to cut trees for profits or at their whims and fancy.

"Don't look at trees as mere profits, trees also have their functions. If we betray our mother nature, this is the disaster that awaits us," he said, commenting more must be done to avert future flood crises.

KUCHING: The Malaysia palm oil industry’s key risks have been revealed to be the industry’s stagnating crude palm oil (CPO) yield.

At CIMB’s seventh Malaysia Corporate Day held recently, the research arm of CIMB Investment Bank Bhd (CIMB Research) noted that MR Chandran, who is an Honorary Member and Advisor to Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) had highlighted this point.

Coupled with labour shortage issues, the stagnating yield could reduce the profit margin achieved by the plantation companies and cost competitiveness of palm oil in the global edible oils market over time......@Ring, repeatedly i hv been highlighting that d yield must be brought similar to UP or doomsday for oil palm growers.MAS taken over by a foreigner Muller n 1MD d expert from Dubai n I think d Matsalleh must head d oil palm plantation who r not able to get a yield between 23-25mt/ha/annum.

KUCHING: Sime Darby Bhd’s (Sime Darby) proposed acquisition of New Britain Palm Oil Ltd (NBPOL), a leading producer of sustainable palm oil to expand its plantation business is poised to enhance its earnings per share (EPS) and provide new opportunities for new landbank additions.

JAKARTA (Apr 1): Malaysian palm oil futures edged lower on Wednesday as worries over increased production and a stronger ringgit dampened buying.

"Strong growth in March and April production is seen as a bearish factor. The March Southern Palm Oil Millers Association figures released today showed and increase of a whopping 48 percent," a trader with a local commodities brokerage in Kuala Lumpur said.

I hv been highlighting in this forum that Felda must increase d yield/ha/annum similar to UP/Klk/IOI. Felda only getting 20mt of fruit which means is low n their not in d business.Top personnel unprofessional in oil palm plantation whereby they neglected in replanting program.Once d palm trees reaches 20yrs of planting must be replaced.Once new trees planted which is very costly, at d end of d 5th yr of planting, the yield must be 25mt to recover d replanting costs otherwise Co can go bust. If palm oil price is about RM3000, d weakness or poor m'ment may not be noticed but wt d present oil price around rm2200, cannot survive. Get rid of lazy M'grs, employ mgrs who r comitted n prepared to walk in d field for 8yrs. If d Govt adamant on weak policies, d voting right wt Felda settlers. I am writing this in good faith becoz I love my country. Employing ex-MB as d chairman a laughing stock. The CEO shd be about 40yrs old n a planter, PM shd tell d CEO, increase d yield to 25mt n bring to UP standard otherwise he shd be given d boot. Now d felda settllers voters is being felt in Rompin.I hope BN is reading this n I am prepared to be their adviser, i hv 40 yrs experience.

If i am not wrong Sime yield/ha/annum is 20mt unlike their counter part like UP/Klk/IOI is 23-25mt. The differecne of say 3mt, d loss in revenue is like (500,000 hectares x 3mt x RM300 current price of fruit = RM150,000,000). If this is paid out as dividend share price will shoot to RM30 like UP. We r hearing of like 1MDB, i think got many MDBs'....very sad Malaysian!

B4 AEB & GH merged wt Sime thier yield was 20mt only n their share price then was about 2.50. IF S...is on 100% oil palm their pr will be about 2.50 so they hv to work very hard to get d yield similar to UP so they can pay 100% dividend n share pr 25-30. PETALING JAYA: TSH Resources Bhd is confident its high yield, low cost model will cushion the effects of a challenging year with the fluctuation in crude palm oil (CPO) prices.

Chairman Datuk Dr Kelvin Tan said its CPO unit cost of production decreased by 4% to 6% in Malaysia and Indonesia in 2014 from the previous year.

"TSH's core profit is respectable compared with other plantation companies because our cost is low," he told a press conference after the group's AGM here.

"We focus on things that we have the capability to do better. We'll continue to reduce our costs and improve our yield," said Tan.

Its CPO production cost stood at RM890 per tonne in Sabah and RM1,220 per tonne in Indonesia. Tan said production costs can go even lower by stepping up fresh fruit bunch (FFB) yield and efficient cost controls.

It recorded FFB yields of 29.7 tonnes per hectare in Sabah and 23.2 tonnes per hectare in Indonesia. The potential for higher FFB yield is there as 76% of its plantations are immature and young matured fields, where trees are progressing into higher yield age.
........@Ring: all I know S... hv finished their replanting program n their yield is only 20 tonnes while TSH getting 29.7 tonnes, i am to say if oil palm plantation dont get above 23 tonnes, they can get prepared to close shop...???...!!!!

No delivery due to GLC policies. To me very simple, if d job meant for "x"he shd be given n if cannot deliver then give them d boot n give to another "x" until they realise, Co mean buisness instead of pampering.Policies r very strong what can d PAs' do, they r all dancing to policies. If d so callecd PAs' hv been doing their job then d yield shd be 25-30 mt.Every year auditors will come to d estate to audit d accounts etc n they cant find anything, difficult to steal n no lost of crop, security very tight instead shd switch to field audit. I read in d news paper some yrs back, any male palm found in IOI estates must be reported to d MD. Tan Sri will come to d estate n talk to d palm to "start bearing" n give 3 mths notice n if still stubborn (no fruit) he orders d tree to be chopped n replace with a young palm. This is committment n felda now only talking of replanting, what d so called PAs' were doing then busy dancing to policies.Low crop in felda can bring d nation down, share price from 5.20 now 1.90, 9 billion wiped out from stock market. Purpose of GLC mergers (AEB/GH/Guthrie) n Sime to lead d m'ment to reduce overhead n to start wt a dividend of 50cts.It is not materialising so d merging synegy is a failure. If all d mgrs output is similar to IOI then S may get a yield of 23-25mt in Peninsular. If S on 100% oil palm will their share price sustain @ 8-10. B4 merging S was Rm5...GH & Aeb 2.50 n Guthrie was running at loss.My suggestion S shd go on 100% oil palm to see actual value of Oil Palm share price to compare wt other plantation Cos'.Why cant they give 100% field s'vision to increase yield n make share price similar to KLK & UP.Is is that difficult to get committed by working hard.....mmmmmm
