JAKS ACHIEVES 38.3% INCREASE IN PBT FOR Q2FYE2023

PATAMI increased by 25.2% Year on Year

PETALING JAYA, 29 AUGUST 2023 – JAKS Resources Berhad (“JAKS” or the “Group”), a construction
and power utilities group specialising in water and other infrastructure projects and energy
development, today announced that its results for the second quarter of the financial year ending 31
December 2023 (“Q2FYE2023”).
In Q2FYE2023, JAKS recorded a jump of 38.3% and 25.2%, year-on-year, in profit before tax (“PBT”)
and profit after tax and minority interest (“PATAMI”) to RM14.5 million and RM19.1 million
respectively. The increase, in PBT and PATAMI, is mainly attributed to the improved share of the profit
from the JAKS Hai Duong power plant in Vietnam as compared to Q2FYE2022.
JAKS chief executive officer Andy Ang Lam Poah said, “Even amidst the challenging economic
environment, our power and energy division remains resilient and consistently generates steady
earnings for the Group. Moving forward, we will actively seek opportunities to strengthen our energy
asset portfolio through green field investment as well as brown field investment opportunities, with
the aim of ensuring JAKS’ earnings are sustainable and in line with the green economy. We have made
significant advancements in our green energy portfolio. Point to note is that our 50-megawatt Large
Scale Solar 4 project in Nibong Tebal which has commenced commercial operations, is four months
ahead of the initial planned commercement date of 31 December 2023. This project will start
contributing additional recurring income for the next 25 years.
We have also been appointed as a solar power producer with a capacity of 29.99 MW under the
Corporate Green Power Programme. We are confident that these milestones will serve as a catalyst
for our growth as we continue to secure our next renewable energy project.”

In 2022, Jaks's 30% share of profit for the Hai Duong Power Plant was RM156.190M

The entire plant's profit would have been RM520M (about USD120M ) in 2022

The Hai Duong Power Plant wasn't the first. They were also not smarter.

However the Hai Duong Power Plant's profit is many times higher than those reported by it's peers.
