@titan3322 We are all riding the bull here. The ride is going to be very rough. Taann price climbs when CPO price climbs, and falls when CPO price (is expected) to fall. If you can't handle the ride, climb down and take profit, no harm with that. Risk takers will continue to ride. Just like glove mania, some take profit very early, some take huge profit later, and some ride until the whole thing came crashing down.
TaAnn’s realized CPO price for FY 2021 was $4,300+ and achieved very high earnings. FCPO April was about $6,900 and spot price is even higher. Don’t have to be overly worried of temporary price correction. That’s just my view .
Hahaha if so good why everyday turun one. Directors pun selling my modest TP only 5.50 also cannot reach think have to lower it to 5.40. BTW John I still have a bus load my average price is very low lor
@titan3322 takpe sudah miskin gileer. I oredi took some profit from Taann, now only left some untuk main-main. Naik turn pun tak kisah. Ini bull nobody can predict, now with the war, bursa merah macam air sirap. Tengok profit ambik profit. Besok makan nasi lemak boleh tambah ayam.
One can increase the supply of mineral oil by merely persuading people to pump it out of the ground. To increase the supply of bio oil one must plant the trees, apply fertilizer, hope for conducive weather and then wait, and wait, and wait
Does accumulated retained earnings indicate a possibility of higher dividends payout? assuming other factors remains constant (cash, borrowings, profitability, etc). Still learning haha
Thomas, retained earnings could potentially be used to pay dividends (as in the way that Genting Malaysia and Genting Berhad are presently doing), but it is more likely they are being accumulated as a "war chest" to provide for future acquisitions or capital works. When a company uses retained earnings to pay dividends, it's usually trying to hide a poor result in a handsome payout -- in effect conning the shareholders into thinking the company is doing well when it is actually struggling.
Valuvestor, thank you. Based on TAAN's quarterly disclosure, its retained earnings is at RM1.1 b.
After some thinking and your explanation, i dont think retained earnings would be a good indicator for "potential" handsome dividend payouts. Dividend payments still need to come from cash, net of liabilities. Its cash net of liabilities doubled.
On its huge accumulated retained earnings, can only speculate here what TAAN would do with it, acquire more palm oil companies other than the already acquired Sarawak Plantation. This one maybe need to wait for another few more years when CPO price drop to its lowest or otherwise acquire inefficient planters that is currently cheap vs current CPO price.
Hi Thomas, the other thing to understand, specifically about retained earnings is that they are essentially the profits of the company that have not been distributed as dividends. Via a rather indirect route, they're the balancing component of the money accumulating in the bank account in a double-entry bookkeeping system. So if a company earns profits and divides those profits between dividends, savings in the bank account and capital investments, retained earnings is the balancing entry for savings in the bank account and capital investments. That is how they have gotten so huge. Profits got retained and then reinvested in new trees and infrastructure and so forth.
Kawan retained earnings can also be used for bonus issues even though there is no change in financial fundementals but it adds liquidity to its stocks making trading more vibrant
In the Starbiz, SOP’s cost of production for FY21 was $1,500 to $1,600 pmt CPO . For FY22, it is estimated to increase about 10 to 15% yoy. I think well managed plantation like Taann has cost of production about the same level . Even if CPO is $5,000, plantation will still make huge profits!
This book is the result of the author's many years of experience and observation throughout his 26 years in the stockbroking industry. It was written for general public to learn to invest based on facts and not on fantasies or hearsay....
