NAV per share of Icap as at 19 Sep 2012 was 2.96, discount 15% = 2.51, if you can keep this stock until 2020, you will make big money. Bull market follow by bear market, take some profit in bull market so you have more capital to buy in bear market. If market no good, don't expect make big money, "duit kopi" enough.

The budget 2013 still kept the informative investment directive, In my opinion, it is hinder with directive trading indication for KLSE investor. It is matter of how we analyst it.

Posted by Noodle Man's > 2012-10-01 20:42 | Report Abuse

icap is not far from offensive investment pattern. I believe bravely investor should apply bull-eye strategy.

TTB downgraded F&N, Parkson & Padini to hold from buy and hold. Maintain Bstead, MSC, Petdag & Suria buy/hold. When Padini stop rise, Bstead, Msc and Suria underperform, Icap upside limited

Shirley1, info on cash level & stocks holding of Icap is available in quarterly financial reports & annual reports.

I believe investors should do their own homework & analysis, rather than listening to the buy/sell calls of those half baked sifu & worst still, spammer.

kcchongnz, ignore hooi, he is just a spammer pretending to buy/sell on every available prices.

chongkonghui, if there is a sell there must be a buy, otherwise how to match a transaction? :)

Icap is not suitable for trading, volume too low & price range too narrow. Even the 2 foreign funds bought only. It is more suitable for long term investors.

From my previous study on Icap quarterly reports, I found that it has kept a cash level of around 30 to 35% of its portfolio since May 2010 (from 13.3% in Feb10). Obviously, it has prepared for the worst but so far the worst didn't happen. However, if the worst do happen, its NAV won't drop that much & it can bargain hunt again in a bear market.

There is a saying: "No one can time the market", market is unpredictable & anything can happen.

yeah, icap is not suitable for trading because the volatility is so low. Even if you are extremely lucky to be able to buy at the trough and sell at the peak of the day, you won't make much money. The bulk of the price appreciation, if any, would have been "eaten up" by bid-ask spread, transaction costs, brokerage, stamp duty etc. I actually doubt one can make money trading icap. Look at its historical price then you would understand what I said. icap forms a major part of my portfolio since some time ago. Make a little bit lah and nothing to shout about. I still keep them because it is really under-valued. I am itchy-finger and like gambling too. I gamble on call warrants with high leverage. Win some lose some but much more exciting. A lot of fun. Just today gamble a bit on Asia Media since it has fallen so much. alas as soon as i have bought at 49 sen, it carries on lao sai. Really not easy to make money gambling.
