KUALA LUMPUR: The short-selling of Gamuda shares was suspended for the rest Monday after the share price fell more than 15 sen or 15% in early trade.

According to a Bursa Malaysia Securities statement, the proprietary day trading (PDT) and intraday short selling (IDSS) activities were suspended at 9.03am and they would only resume at 8.30am on Tuesday.

At 9.44am, Gamuda was down 64 sen to RM2.57 with 30.4 million shares done. It hit an early low of RM2.32 – the lowest in recent years.

Its call warrants, C54 lost 3.5 sen to 2.5 sen with 11.2 million units done.

The FBM KLCI was down 3.90 points or 0.22% to RM2.57. There were 103 gainers, 430 losers and 232 counters unchanged. Turnover was 539.46 million shares valued at RN288.06mil.

The fall in Gamuda was after the government terminated MRT 2’s underground scope, which CIMB Research said was a negative surprise.

“Huge order book impact if Gamuda fails in the soon-to-be-held international tender,” it said.

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 8): Bursa Malaysia has suspended the proprietary day trading (PDT) and intraday short selling (IDSS) activities for Gamuda Bhd and MMC Corp Bhd for the rest of the day.

This is because the last done price of the approved securities dropped more than 15 sen or 15% from the reference price, it added today.

"The PDT and IDSS activities (of both Gamuda and MMC) will only be enabled the following trading day, i.e. Tuesday, 9/10/2018 at 08:30 am," the regulator said in a special announcement.

Shares of Gamuda ended the morning session down 69 sen or 21.5% to RM2.52 today, with 52.55 million shares done, after analysts cut their net profit forecasts to reflect the government’s termination of the MMC-Gamuda joint venture as the tunnelling contractor for the Mass Rapid Transit Line 2 (MRT2) project yesterday. MMC shares also took a tumble, falling by 22 sen or 16.3% at RM1.13 in early trade, with 531,000 traded.

:) because I suspected the sharp fall upon opening to 2.3+ was due to short selling.. it seems too , once short selling was suspended, the price rebounded to 2.5+ quickly, :)

No more buying for gamuda today.....then tomorrow sure rebound loh.
But if the mrt2 project retender.....and gamuda get it back, i believed it is not something to be rejoice. It will be at a cut throat price and will not be as lucrative as previous contract. The profit will be slim and any mistake or delay will be very costly. Dun play play with the new gomen oh.....
