Perhaps there were properties/businesses were injected into this counter so the owners received the Shares in the public listed company. The major shareholders are in such a structure.

BUT, it has the disadvantages when the directorships in these companies (mostly PLC), have glaring differences in terms of the personality such as having spouses, cousins, uncles inside...just in case.
