Earnings will continue to grow.

1) New jobs from customer X (Dyson)

After record high earnings in FY3/18 (which saw a 3-year net profit CAGR of 43%), net profit fell 23.7% y-o-y in FY3/19 due to weaker demand for ageing products. Note that the last contract secured by SKP was in Jul 2016. While FY3/20 saw another gestation period with net profit dropping 21.7% y-o-y, the SKP managed to secure several new jobs from 2QFY3/21 from its existing premium home electronics customer. These include a new vacuum cleaner model that it started producing in April 2021. SKP also won the contract for a new purifier fan model that it plans to start mass production by end CY2021. Approaching Mar 2022, SKP expects to start mass production of a new beauty care product. Overall, SKP reported a stellar FY4Q/21 results with core profit of RM30.3m (-30.4% q-o-q, +335.3% y-o-y) and this brought its FY3/21 revenue/ core profit up 25%/ 69.2% y-o-y due to strong demand from its main customer.

2) New plant to enhance production floor space

SKP’s management has recently clarified the Group’s next phase of expansion and this comes as utilisation of existing capacity is expected to peak soon. The Group intends to capitalise on opportunities from existing and new customers. Its imminent plans are to construct a new plant nearby its existing operations in Senai, Johor with target completion by end-2021. The new facility with 600,000 sq. ft. of floor space is expected to enlarge its production floor space by 60% with a capex of approx. RM65m. To capitalise on the prolonged US-China trade spat, the Group is in active discussions with existing customers on potential projects and also new customers who are looking to diversify their supply chain. These, if they materialise, would help expand its earnings base further in the long-run and diversify its customer mix.

1) Incoming New Products

The group managed to clinch the third product contract from its key customer (probably Dyson), securing a 100% win rate for this year’s tender activity. The first product already started production in April 2021 while the second one will begin in Dec 2021. The third product (beauty care) is slated to commence production in Mar 2022. We believe that SKP’s operational track record has managed to impress its key customer, positioning the group as the preferred contract manufacturer among its peers for future product awards.

2) 600k sq. ft. expansion.

Current utilisation rate is at its peak as existing products continue to see overwhelming order volume from its key customer. To fulfil the recently won tenders and take on more products award in the future, SKP has acquired a 6.4 acre land for RM14m in Johor Bahru and set aside RM45m for the construction of a new plant which is slated to be completed by July 2022, a slight delay from initial timeline of end-2021 due to the pandemic. This will provide an additional 600k sq. ft. of production space, representing a 60% increase from existing floor space.
