Azhar Hamid(CEO. city folk) made FGV big drop(announcing huge loss) is for him to buy more. Will poor Felda settlers agree with his method that make them(FS) poorer?
Huge masses of jungle land in Malaysia and Indonesia (esp Sumatra and Kalimantan) have been cleared for oil palm plantations in the last 40 years. Wildlife habitats have been destroyed. Is Man so greedy and unkind that he is blind to the needs of other living things (biodiversity)? Will the Sumatran rhino, tiger, orangutan and many other species including flora become extinct one day like the dinosaurs and Mauritius Dodo bird? We need to ponder about this.
Share price always move ahead of job done. Once everything is in place, you will buy a higher price . On the other way round of job not carried out, a reverse would take place. Investment to a certain extent is also a gambling venture.
@henry888, technically, this is still a technical rebound (a strong one though)..... whether this rebound will turn into an uptrend or not, we will have to wait till after Chinese New Year for uptrend confirmation.
henry888: Drop back to buy may be not sensible. Importance is the trend. Whether it is just a rebound or downtrend or uptrend. Any Sifu/experts' advice. Thanks. 12/01/2019 05:27 -----------------------------------------
PETALING JAYA: It was cronyism and education neglect under the previous Barisan Nasional administration that caused Felda's potential of economic growth to be stunted, says DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang.
Hence, this is the reason why Felda settlements remained as merely a plantation village with no other industrial activities, said Lim.
Lim claims he was informed by an unknown Felda settler's son that any plans for settlers to expand beyond cash crop agricultures are practically barred by Felda.
"The settlers are not allowed to plant anything else or do other economic activities on the allocated land without permission, reducing their ability to diversify.
"Settlers have been asking Felda for permission to be allowed to farm other produce on part of their land as diversification, but to no avail," he said in a statement on Sunday (Jan 13).
Lim pointed out that because land within such settlements is all owned by Felda, industrial activities are practically barred.
"Investors cannot go into the settlement areas to tap into the human capital, due to the land monopoly.
"This has created a situation where the second generation of settlers having to either move out of Felda in poverty, or continue to be farmers if they receive the ownership of the plantation from their fathers," he said.
Meanwhile, Lim said that the previous government's plans on assisting farmers in setting up their plantation failed to generate secondary economic activities such as small enterprises to support the local economic ecosystem.
According to Lim, this was due to Felda's management practice of subcontracting these potential economic opportunities to Barisan's cronies, which had limited the first and second-generation settler's ability to partake in such economic endeavours.
Lim said that as part of Felda's management reform, the Pakatan Harapan government would liberalise the secondary economic market for Felda settlers.
"By removing cronyism and corruption within Felda, we can finally realise the true potential of Felda as a social programme, intended to lift the rural poor out of the poverty cycle, while at the same, time creating a vibrant community."
This book is the result of the author's many years of experience and observation throughout his 26 years in the stockbroking industry. It was written for general public to learn to invest based on facts and not on fantasies or hearsay....
