People will cut back on cooking oil and palm oil products (eg magarine,cakes,biscuits) whose prices have risen subsantially too (demand destruction), so I don't see the bull run continuing for too long. However CPO prices will probably remain elevated for some time. As for crude oil, my guess is that prices will stay up for a while too. Both were/are supply side issues.

If I'm right, PNB holds a significant stake in SD, probably through ASN and ASB. Probably other local funds do too.

Demand and Supply imbalance. OPEC and non-OPEC are producing far less than before covid struck and shutdown everything. Recall oil prices went NEGATIVE not too long ago. There was too much oil and nobody to sell to and nowhere to store the excess supplies. PANIC SELLING in the oil markets at the time! Once producers start producing more, guess what will happen.

Diwali, Christmas, CNY, Hari Raya come every year so seasonal ups and downs are normal. Supermarket foodstuff containing palm oil have been the same for many years too. While the world population keeps growing, poverty due to the pandemic is increasing. Many people have seen their incomes fall or lost their jobs entirely and this number is increasing. This will mean they will buy less not more. How much can you buy on zero income?

Many Klang Valley glove producers were affected by prolonged MCO. So expect lower profits last quarter.

In US, 365 children are hospitalised daily for Covid.

I may be wrong but I'm guessing the world isn't out of the woods yet. In the US, cases are rising among the unvaccinated. Australia and Russia are also seeing a surge in Delta infections. India and Indonesia might see another wave.

Remember earnings are not set in stone. What goes up can come down. Invest in moderation.
