alex ... it depends where the gap is down to !! say if it's down to major support (congested area or the good old 200EMA), then i won't cut cuz many a time, there will be reaction around these levels

in that case, i suppose you're using mental stop, not hard stop then.

nooooo alex .. must always have a stop loss no matter what !!! not just any stop loss but a meaningful one ... a lot of times, traders will say 3% or 5% or 10% of cap ... this is not meaningful at all cuz the market does not care how u work it out based on your total cap ... it has to be something like previous swing low (aggressive) or the 2nd swing low (conservative) etc cuz these are the pivots that market does care about .. also as part of risk management, not a bad idea to sell 1/2 once we get 1:1R and then move stop to breakeven to ride the other half ..

the gap down that u ask shud merely be either (1) bad QR (2) some kinda bad news reported by media ... (1) is easy to avoid - DO NOT TRADE WHEN QR IS GOING TO BE RELEASED (2) this is when we 6c6c how bad the selling is cuz quite likely it's just a blip

ic connie.... like this season, dow sudden drop 1700 point, now rebound a bit, i perceive it is a hard trading environment, seeing that we can only play one side of the game (long).

When the market is selling down, I actually close several of my trades prematurely. Then the market rebounded today.
