KUALA LUMPUR: Handal Resources Bhd, an integrated offshore crane services provider and fabricator, has secured its fifth contract
of the year from Carigali Hess Operating Company Sdn Bhd, worth RM11 million.

Handal's wholly-owned subsidiary, Handal Offshore Services Sdn Bhd, was awarded the Letter of Agreement to undertake integrated crane services for Carigali's offshore facilities for three years effective immediately.

Since the beginning of the year, Handal Offshore has landed maintenance and refurbishments contracts with ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc, Petrofac EandC Sdn Bhd, Talisman Malaysia Ltd and Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd Peninsula Malaysia Operations, totalling almost RM350 million.

"Pedestal cranes are the lifeline of any offshore facility and the importance of maintaining their reliability cannot be ignored.

"Without a fully-functioning crane, the optimal performance of an oil and gas rig can be compromised.

"Hence, the awarding of the agreement to Handal Offshore by a major player in the offshore exploration and production industry, is seen as a validation of our capabilities as an integrated offshore crane services provider not only in
Malaysia but increasingly within the region as well," Handal said in a statement today.

Carigali Hess is a joint venture between Malaysia's Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd and two subsidiaries of US-based Hess Corporation, and operates a natural gas production block within the Malaysia/Thailand Joint Development Area in the Gulf of Thailand. -- BERNAMA
