Food for thought year 2020: Gratitude and Be Grateful for what we Have

The beginning of 2020 has revealed enough for deep reflection:
That giant Australia is not at all invincible from fire…
That mighty China could be shaken by enemies that are too small to be seen…
That what we view small is a fully destructive Volcano…
That what we see as a basketball star could fall into a deadly crash…
Things are, indeed…
never too big nor too small…
never too high nor too low…
never too powerful nor too faint…
never too wealthy nor too broke…
never too famous nor too ordinary…
Whatever our condition is, …
we are all equal…
we are all important…
we are all gifts…
our current status does not define us at all…
what we have or possess is never a mighty protective armor…
So, in life…
don’t be rude…
don’t be greedy…
don’t be selfish…
don’t be ill-mannered…
don’t be crabbed…
don’t be wicked…
don't be un-empathetic...
don’t be messy…
don’t be all knowing…
don’t be deceitful…
don’t be domineering…
After all…
we are not invincible
we are not mighty
we are not immortal
The early part of 2020 has lots of revelations.
It is never too late to be good.
Listen.
Lastly, I would add - be grateful for what we have.

The question need to be asked is why man of power, wealth and influence are arrogance with big ego, big head, vengeful and unable of empathy, gratitude, self reflection and introspection? Is truth and honor did not matter anymore? Are rich, powerful and influencer people can get away with everything? And those speak up his conscious against his abusive boss wrongdoings will be denounced and abused by the abusive boss and his irrational army of trolls/mobs?
Indeed the early part of 2020 has lots of revelations.
It is never too late to have a good self reflection and introspection.

I am writing this article of my actual experience in the last few days. There is an old Cantonese saying “kor qui lai pan”. It literally means that you have placed a plank for a friend to cross a stream and after he has crossed, he removed the plank and left stranded.
As you know, I have posted a few days ago namely “Forced Selling” in which I openly said that I lost a huge sum of money. I am shocked to learn that among all my friends, only one came forward to help me. As an English saying: a friend in need is a friend indeed.
Many of my friends have asked me to manage their investment accounts. I selected 2 friends who deserved my assistance.
After reading my article “Forced Selling”, they knew I am desperate for financial help. One immediately asked me to return all his capital including the paper profit when the market was good. The other told me not worry because he believes I can make back some money with my skill.
Lessons:
1. When you are rich and famous, many people want to be your friend.
2. When you are desperate for help, very few people will help you.
3. Don’t be shocked to know that when you are down, your so-called friend will step on you.
4. Do not expect the people whom you have helped to show gratitude
Indeed a test of true friendship and gratitude:
Mr Ooi has been managing my investment account satisfactorily in the last 10 years and whenever I want to buy or sell shares, I would consult him. He is acting like my sounding board. I must admit my biggest mistake in my life in buying too much JAKS with margin finance despite his objection.
In view of coming bullish market in Malaysia in 2019, this is a good time for me to write my recommendation to encourage more people let him manage their investment.

Real or fake news:
Stories of young people getting arrested, not being heard from for days, and then being found dead in places around the city that police frame as suicides. Ppl now have made pledges on social media that if they disappear, it is not because they committed suicide. When people get arrested, other protesters will quickly try and get their information and shout their name so people know they are in police custody.
