Recently, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), a press freedom watchdog group based in New York, was denied consultative status at the United Nations. Without the accreditation, CPJ is unable to access U.N. bodies and processes, hindering their ability to contribute more to the issues surrounding media and human rights. This week, we speak to a representative from the CPJ to get their side of the story. We also get an update to the number of journalists killed this year in their line of duty.

Here are the segments of the episode:

1:31 - Asia Calling 1 - Philippines' new president starts his administration

7:52 - Asia Calling 2 - US President, Barack Obama pays a visit to Vietnam

16:15 - Media Accreditation - Validated Access to Crucial Information?

This epsiode was produced by Sharyl Kaur and Muhammad Haniff Baharudin.
