KUALA LUMPUR (July 6): Bahvest Resources Bhd said on Thursday (July 6) that its gold mining activities have resumed as the group has restored the damaged water reservoir bund wall that had disrupted operations since June 22.

“The board of directors are delighted to announce that the group’s gold mining and processing operations have been resumed smoothly as of July 6, after the damaged water reservoir bund wall was fully restored,” said Bahvest in a Bursa Malaysia filing.

On June 27, the group told Bursa that it had filed a police report after several men entered the operations site on June 22 and broke the bund wall of its water reservoir using an excavator machine, causing water to gush into the site and disrupt operations.

Bahvest's share price fell 3.8% on June 22, when the incident happened but no disclosure was made, before dropping another 34% on June 23.

The stock has pared some of the losses since then, and closed half sen or 2.2% lower at 22.5 sen on Thursday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM278.95 million.
