KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 3): The Supply Bill 2025, also known as Budget 2025, was passed in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday after receiving majority support from Members of Parliament (MPs) through a voice vote.
Presiding Speaker Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah made the announcement following the third reading of the Bill by Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.
Earlier in the afternoon, 26 MPs participated in debates on the Education Ministry’s allocations, while 19 MPs debated the Higher Education Ministry's budget.
Budget 2025, themed "Reinvigorating the economy, driving reforms, and prospering the people", was tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Parliament on Oct 18.
Estimated at RM421 billion — the largest ever tabled — it includes RM335 billion allocated for operating expenditure and RM86 billion for development expenditure, not including RM2 billion earmarked for contingency reserves.
The budget underwent eight days of policy-stage debates by MPs from Oct 21 to Nov 5, followed by four days of ministerial replies from Nov 6 to Nov 12, and 12 days of committee-stage debates.
The current session of Dewan Rakyat will resume on Wednesday, with presentations and debates on bills and other government matters scheduled until Dec 12.
