The company behind the residential water sterilizing and recycling appliance, Hydraloop, exhibited its product at CES 2020 this week not only to show off its tech, but also to scope out new ways to bring the device to the United States.

Among the eco-friendly technologies displayed at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the most impressive may be the Hydraloop water recycling system, which, after having been on the market in Europe and Asia for about two years, could be making its way to the United States this year.

This appliance, which is about the size of a refrigerator, although far thinner, recycles the water used in a home by cleaning, sterilising, and then sending it off to be used for gardening, toilet flushing, or as pool and washing machine water.

Using the Hydraloop is estimated to reduce household water consumption and sewage emissions each by 45%. It's automatic, self-cleans, and purifies water without using filters, membranes or chemicals; instead, a lengthy six-step process cleans up the water. Despite all this, the product is designed to be a "fit & forget" appliance, meaning that the device is so low maintenance that owners won't need to adjust their lifestyles in order to live more sustainably.

Owners can choose where their recycled water is prioritised over tap water through a Hydraloop companion application which also displays the device's overall performance.

According to Engadget, the purpose of the company coming to CES is to hunt for "new or better distribution deals", as they have plans to launch the appliance in the United States this year.
