Panasonic wants to take on Apple's beloved AirPods with three new models of wireless headphones.

At the recently concluded CES tech fair in Las Vegas, the Japanese group unveiled the RZ-S500W and RZ-S300W models under the Panasonic brand, as well as a device from its Technics subsidiary called EAH-AZ70W.

In the wake of Apple's surprise success with the AirPods in recent years, followed by its recently announced AirPods Pro sequel with Active Noise Cancelling, numerous companies have created their own versions of wireless headphones.

The special feature on the RZ-S500W and EAH-AZ70W models is the so-called Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling, marketing jargon for a technology the company says offers better noise cancelling.

By combining analogue and digital processing of the sound signals, the company says it can minimise the noise generated inside and outside the earcups.

The Panasonics and Technics models are scheduled for launch in the summer of 2020 for as yet unspecified prices.

At CES, Samsung subsidiary Harman Kardon, Jabra and Shure also unveiled wireless headphones, which are also expected to compete with Apple's AirPods.
