After Apple TV+ and Disney+, here comes Nasa+. The US space agency is launching its own streaming platform in response to the growing popularity of all things space-related on social networking sites.

Here comes another streaming platform! And this time, it's taking viewers to the skies, since Nasa is the latest player to jump into the streaming market. Called Nasa+, the US government agency's new streaming platform could be launching this summer, although no specific date has yet been set.

According to the presentation video, available on Nasa's YouTube channel, the platform will be free to watch, ad-free and suitable for all ages. Nasa+ will also be accessible on Nasa's app on both iOS and Android, on mobile, web and digital tablet, as well as on Roku, Apple TV and Fire TV.

"We’re putting space on demand and at your fingertips with Nasa’s new streaming platform," said Marc Etkind, associate administrator at Nasa's office of communications, quoted in a news release. "Transforming our digital presence will help us better tell the stories of how Nasa explores the unknown in air and space, inspires through discovery, and innovates for the benefit of humanity."

Programming is expected to include original video series, as well as live videos and broadcasts.

Space-related content has been proving popular on social networks. On TikTok, the #Nasa hashtag has racked up over 16 billion views. On Instagram, the official Nasa account is followed by some 94.4 million users.

On its updated website, currently available in a beta preview version, Nasa is already offering immersive experiences, images and information on its various projects currently underway.
