In London, a private school has decided to experiment with a teaching program based entirely on artificial intelligence-generated learning. Some 20 young people aged 15 to 17 will take part, hoping to graduate at the end of the year.

The program, which is experimental in nature, has been dubbed Sabrewing. For one year, some 20 students at David Game College will benefit from learning powered exclusively by artificial intelligence, offering each student an entirely personalised experience.

For the time being, this approach is aimed at young people who need to take the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE). Rather than going over the same material in the same format repeatedly, they'll be offered a different approach, via an AI-driven adaptive learning platform.

These are by no means distance learning courses, as they are to be taken on the school's London campus. In the absence of teachers, students will nevertheless have three coaches who will be on hand year-round to monitor their progress and act as mentors. The program is based on adaptive learning technology, which enables students to progress at their own pace, identifying exactly their strengths and weaknesses. The idea is to accelerate their overall learning process.

The core curriculum includes English, mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics. In addition, students can choose other subjects, such as computer science, geography and history. Fun fact: the Sabrewing program takes its name from a variety of hummingbirds with exceptional adaptability.

The experimental,program begins on Monday, September 23, 2024, and each of the 20 student volunteers has paid around £27,000 (about US$35,000) to take part in this astonishing course.
