US has a total of 4.04 million Covid 19 cases and 145,000 deaths. The 2 charts below show the total cases and the daily new cases in the US. The US has the most Covid 19 cases in the world. It has about 25% of the total cases in the world, although its population is only about 4% of the world population. In the last few days, it has more than 60,000 new cases every day.

The main reason why US is creating medical history is because President Trump did not even believe in wearing face masks about 2 weeks ago. If he had made wearing face mask mandatory earlier, he could have thousands of lives.

Under such condition, the requirement of medical gloves is unprecedented in the US. As the number of new cases is still spiking in US and in many other countries around the world, the demand for gloves will continue to exceeds supply. All the glove makers can easily increase their selling prices. Investors should know that the additional selling price is pure profit because it does not involve production cost.

I foresee Top Glove will create history in the Malaysian stock market by announcing the biggest jump in quarterly profit for a listed company.

According to WHO report 1 in 5 Covid 19 cases needs hospital care. Based on this percentage of 1 in 5, US will need more than 800,000 hospital beds. Moreover, since coronavirus is contagious or can spread easily, patients have to be carefully isolated. Just for comparison, my neighbour Dr Mano who is a surgeon in Ipoh Specialist Hospital told me that ISH has only 400 beds and they do not accept Covid 19 cases to prevent the spread of the virus to many other patients. That means US requires 800,000 divided by 400 = 2,000 Hospitals similar to Ipoh Specialist Hospital. Very hard for me to imagine!!!

Fortunately, Americans are increasingly adopting the use of cloth face masks to slow the spread of COVID-19, and the latest science may convince even more to do so. In an editorial published recently in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), CDC reviewed the latest science and affirms that cloth face coverings are a critical tool in the fight against COVID-19 that could reduce the spread of the disease, particularly when used universally within communities. “We are not defenceless against COVID-19,” said CDC Director Dr. Robert R. Redfield. “Cloth face coverings are one of the most powerful weapons we have to slow and stop the spread of the virus – particularly when used universally within a community setting. All Americans have a responsibility to protect themselves, their families, and their communities.”
