Although I have written this most important investment lesson before, I have to write and post it again because someone recommended to buy plantation stocks for their dividend yield on my KYY chat blog. Top of the plantation stocks he recommended are:
1 Hup Seng last traded price 71.5 sen and DPS 1 sen
2 Kim Loong last traded price Rm 1.78 and DPS 5 sen
3 United Plant last traded price Rm 15.75 and DPS no dividend given in the last few years.
4 Sime Darby last traded price Rm 4.33 and no dividend given in the last quarter.
In fact all listed stocks including plantation stocks give out less dividend yield than the fix deposit rate of 5% per year.
Public Bank, one of the safest listed stocks, last traded price was Rm 4.20 and DPS 4 sen for the last quarter.
When you buy a stock, you expect to gain from share price increase and dividend yield. As I pointed out, plantation stocks gave out dividend yield less than the fix deposit rate, investors must not buy plantation stocks. Only buy stocks that can report increasing profit to make money.
Among all the stock selection criteria such as NTA, dividend yield, cash flow, healthy balance sheet, EPS etc, profit growth is the most powerful catalyst to push up stock price. Due to oversupply of palm oil, all plantation companies cannot report increasing profit.
Never buy any stock if it reported reduced profit.
Only buy stocks if they have reported increased profit.
For examples:
Petra Energy last traded price 86 sen, last reported EPS 7.57 for the quarter ending Sept and EPS 0.43 sen for its previous quarter.
CMSB last traded price Rm 1.29, last reported EPS 14.37 sen for the quarter ending Sept and EPS 3.69 sen for its previous quarter.
Coastal Contract last traded price Rm 2.50, last reported EPS 26.77 sen for the quarter ending Sept and EPS 19.86 sen for its previous quarter.

Tsh owns 94700 acres in Nusantara or 4 billion SQ ft
it bought those lands in 2008 at Rm5k an acre or 13 sen psf

Today in Nusantara land price has gone up to Rm9 psf
if we revalue Tsh land to be Rm10 psf then it will be over Rm4 billions or more than Rm2.50 per share cash
if Rm10 it will be Rm25
in the far future by year 2045 when Nusantara is fully developed land prices can reach Rm100 psf like Putrajaya
then Tsh can be worth Rm250 cash a share just on land appreciation
but it will take time

This kyy rubbish type of analysis on Plantation mah!
1. Hupseng jual biscuit n not plantation stock loh~
2. kim loong pays div per year 15 sen based on latest year
3.United Plantation pays div 125 sen based on latest year
4. Simeplant pays div 23 sen based on latest year
This means div from plantation range from 5.5% pa to 8.0% pa far exceeding fixed deposits interest of 4% pa loh!
As for hupseng selling biscuits, its div yield is roughly 2.55% pa loh!
This indicates plantation stock div yield generally is far more superior than other stocks mah!
