The subcontract for the transportation and installation (T&I) of a large offshore platform related to the Sarawak offshore Jerun gas project in Malaysia is awaiting competition.

Jerun-also known as the second phase of the Block SK408 project, operated by SapuraOMV Upstream, a 50:50 joint venture between Austrian OMV and Malaysia Sapura Energy, and the final investment decision was made in April.

This is the largest project operated by SapuraOMV and is expected to produce 500 million cubic feet per day of natural gas after it is put into production in 2024.

The natural gas from the oil field will be sold to customers in Bintulu, Sarawak, including Petronas LNG Complex.

The main contractor for this project is Malaysia Marine Heavy Industries (MMHE), which won a 1 billion ringgit (approximately US$243 million) contract in April for engineering design, procurement, construction, transportation and installation, and Connect and debug a large offshore central processing natural gas platform.

However, the transport of the platform from the MMHE shipyard to the Jerun oil field will be handed over to the specialized company T&I.
