BYD Co Ltd (1211.HK)

BYD and NETA announced the construction of their factories in Thailand. Both sides said that the factory aims to produce cars for Thailand and ASEAN countries and other regions.

The factory covers an area of about 96 hectares, with an estimated annual output of 150,000 vehicles, which is expected to be officially put into production in 2024. It is worth noting that BYD delivered the 10,000th ATTO 3 at the same time as the groundbreaking ceremony of the new factory.

Budweiser Brewing Co APAC Ltd (1876.HK)

Budweiser Brewing Co APAC has revealed plans to expand into more Chinese cities with its “super premium” beer brands. The company, which is considered Asia’s largest beer company by sales described how, after China lifted its pandemic restrictions, it had seen a resurgence in demand for high end beers.

Budweiser APAC co-chair and chief executive Jan Craps revealed that Budweiser APAC aims to increase the number of Chinese cities where it sells its “super-premium” beer brands, including Budweiser, Hoegaarden and Corona and hinted: “We believe in the next 10 years there is big growth potential here.”

Baidu Inc (9888.HK)

China’s Internet giant, Baidu has signed a strategic partnership with Pixellot. The agreement includes the installation of 200 Pixellot systems in venues across China, with a goal to install an additional 6,000 systems over the next three years. The new partnership will further expand Baidu’s involvement in China’s sports market.

HSBC Holdings Plc (5.HK)

HSBC Holdings PLC is set to buy the UK arm of Silicon Valley Bank, the culmination of a frantic weekend in which ministers and bankers explored a number of ways to avert the SVB Financial Group unit’s collapse.

Thee London-listed lender’s “ring-fenced subsidiary, HSBC UK Bank PLC, is acquiring Silicon Valley Bank UK Ltd (SVB UK) for ￡1 (US$1.21),” HSBC said in a statement yesterday.

“This acquisition makes excellent strategic sense for our business in the UK,” CEO Noel Quinn said in the statement. “SVB UK customers can continue to bank as usual, safe in the knowledge that their deposits are backed by the strength, safety and security of HSBC.”
