AIA Group Ltd (1299.HK)

AIA Group has applied to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) to launch a renminbi counter to give investors more trading currency choices.

The development comes several months after the Hong Kong bourse introduced a dual-currency counter to enable investors to buy and trade stocks in either the local dollar or the yuan. HKEX previously said it will announce the starting date of the new dual counter in due course.

BYD Co Ltd (1211.HK)

The patent of “Vein Identification Device and Vehicle” applied by BYD Corporation Limited Co., Ltd. was authorized on 24th March 2023. After inquiring to the China National Intellectual Property Administration, it was learned that the utility model authorized by BYD this time is actually a vein recognition device and vehicle, IThome reported.

The device mainly includes three modules: Firstly, the infrared acquisition module is used to acquire the vein image of the hand. Secondly, the vein recognition module is connected with the infrared acquisition module, which is used for recognizing the vein features after receiving the images, and triggers a door control instruction after determining that the vein features are legal. Thirdly, the power module is connected with infrared acquisition module and vein recognition module for power supply. By adopting a vein recognition device, the control of vehicle can be made more personal by way of a bio-key.

Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd (27.HK)

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has completed the approval process for the ‘Raffles at Galaxy Macau’ hotel tower (pictured centre), part of Cotai’s Galaxy Macau Phase 3 project. Macau-based casino promoter Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd, the operator of Galaxy Macau, said in late February that it planned to launch “progressively” Phase 3 of the resort, starting in the second quarter of this year.

The Raffles at Galaxy Macau tower, with 450 rooms, is one of the two hotels in Phase 3. The other hotel is Andaz Macau, with 700 rooms and suites. For the latter, Galaxy Entertainment most recently reiterated it would “continue to monitor market conditions” and launch it “when appropriate”.

Lenovo Group Ltd (992.HK)

Sands China Ltd (1928.HK)

Macau casino operator Sands China Ltd is partnering with the city’s flag-carrier airline, Air Macau Co Ltd, to offer what is termed “an exclusive hotel package and a wide range of privileges” to “Singaporean and regional visitors”, to mark what Sands China said was the “inauguration” of the airline’s Macau Singapore route. Sands China’s parent, Las Vegas Sands Corp, runs the Marina Bay Sands casino resort in Singapore.

“This collaboration demonstrates Sands China’s continuing efforts to diversify visitor source markets geared toward tourism and economic revival, and promote Macau as a world centre of tourism and leisure”, Wilfred Wong Ying Wai, president of Sands China said.
