JOHOR BARU: Malaysia will showcase its products to visitors from all over the world at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, says Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof.

He said the Cabinet has agreed to the setting up of a Malaysia Street village within the Olympics Village.

"We are now finalising the details of the setting up of Malaysia Street @ Tokyo Olympics," he said to reporters after opening the Malaysia Carnival of Cooperatives' Products and Services 2019 at Persada Johor International Convention Centre here Thursday (Nov 28).

He said the ministry hoped that local entrepreneurs and cooperatives would take the opportunity to set up their booths at Malaysia Street.

Redzuan estimated about 40 million visitors would visit the world's biggest sporting event.

"Malaysia Street will be at the Olympics for two months and we are targeting to make millions of ringgit in sales," said Redzuan.

He said although the Tokyo Olympics starts from July 24 until Aug 9, visitors would have come weeks earlier and even stay back a little longer after the event has ended.
