WHEN the Government confirmed that there will be no nationwide lockdown imposed, it may be a relief to some, but a dreaded decision for others.

Similar to the chicken and egg situation, the country’s economy is in dire need of measures to help businesses recover from the massive slowdown caused by the pandemic.

At the same time, most of the Malaysian population remain extremely concerned regarding the outcome of the no-lockdown call, as it may be a much needed measure to bring down the number of COVID-19 infections.

Speaking of which, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia today continues to climb up as it records 6,509 cases within the last 24 hours, with Selangor still being the highest contributing state at 2,049.

There were also 61 deaths today, another continuously climbing number, bringing the total to 2,309.

At least, there were 3,452 recoveries today, despite another 711 patients being admitted into intensive care units (ICUs) and 369 of them in need of ventilator support – May 24, 2021
