KUALA LUMPUR: MyEG Services Bhd today issued a statement denying misrepresenting services offered by the company online.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia Securities, the company said the clarification is in reference to news reports on Kota Melaka member of Parliament (MP) Khoo Poay Tiong's allegations that the company has been illegally collecting fees to renew foreign workers permit, despite suspension of its services by the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

Khoo said MyEG's services contract with the Immigration Department has been suspended since February this year.

MyEG's previous immigration services concession was scheduled to end on May 22 this year.

According to a filing with the bourse in July however, MyEG said the Ministry of Home Affairs had notified it vide a letter dated July 7, 2023 that the Ministry of Finance has approved for MyEG to be appointed as the collection agent for the government revenue and to extend its role as the provider of online services for the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

At the time, the company said the terms of the extension was being finalised pursuant to further discussion with the government.

"The board of directors of the company wishes to clarify there is and has been no misrepresentation by MyEG in the services available on its online platform and that all services continue to be provided in accordance to the terms and conditions stipulated by the Government of Malaysia."

"Furthermore, the board wishes to clarify that the statement made by the honorable Khoo Poay Tiong (Kota Melaka-Pakatan Harapan) is an opinion of his own," the company said.
