MCA Federal Territories Youth leader Mike Chong Yew Chuan responded to DAP leader Anthony Loke Siew Fook’s remarks that he did not like the party by stating he also disliked DAP.

In an interview with the Keluar Sekejap channel, Loke said he did not dislike the Barisan Nasional (BN) but did not like the MCA, a component of the BN.

The swift response from Mike got him into hot soup on both the Facebook and X platforms, where netizens are attacking the MCA for being petty.

Mike posted a video with loads of statements from previous campaigns by Loke in which the latter attacked the BN and the MCA. He ended the video by saying he did not dislike the Unity Government and liked the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and the Amanah but did not like the DAP.

On Facebook, a netizen retraced the statement by Loke saying the latter made it clear the MCA had a bad reputation in the past, that of being pro-rich Chinese ‘taukeys’ and this is what he did not like.

The netizen urged the MCA man to ponder what Loke meant about the party and to reverse the trend for the BN component party to regain its popularity.

On the X platform, Dr Rais Husain also commented on the MCA video, showing his disappointment with the party’s response to Loke.

Another user on X said a lot of people dislike the MCA nowadays, adding that the last successful president of the party was the late Dr Chua Soi Lek.

Some users are accusing the MCA of betraying the BN and the unity government by showing they are more pro-Perikatan Nasional (PN) than they are of the unity government, which is something the party has to address altogether according to netizens. - April 7, 2024
