KUALA LUMPUR: The government aims to attract at least RM500 billion in investments for Phase 1 of Malaysia's National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS), spearheaded by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti).

In his keynote address at Semicon Southeast Asia 2024, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that the investments were among the five targets from NSS.

He also said the Phase 1 of the NSS would involve Domestic Direct Investment (DDI) focusing on IC Design, Advanced Packaging and Manufacturing Equipment, and FDI focusing on Wafer Fabs and Manufacturing Equipment.

Anwar also said that the NSS would be structured in three phases.
