KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reminded Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution to observe Parliament rules, particularly on attire.

This was after Saifuddin wore a long-sleeved batik shirt to Parliament, typically only worn by government officials on Thursdays.

"I want to remind the Home Minister to follow Parliament rules. I agree with Hulu Terengganu," he said while smiling.

Saifuddin, seated a row behind Anwar, was seen nodding.

Earlier, before asking his supplementary question to Anwar, Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN-Hulu Terengganu) had raised the issue of Saifuddin's attire in the Dewan Rakyat.

"I want to ask about the dress code in Parliament. Can batik be worn (today)?" he questioned.

The House Committee had, on Oct 11, 2021, agreed to the proposal for MPs to wear long-sleeved Malaysian batik shirts when attending Dewan Rakyat sitting on Thursdays.

The wearing of the batik shirt, to support and promote the country's heritage, was not mandatory and was voluntary.
