KUALA LUMPUR: Members of parliament from both blocs were chided by Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Md Nor after proceedings during the evening session were disturbed due to several arguments.

Ramli said MPs from government and opposition parties must have integrity and show maturity in the way they debate.

"I believe all of you are well aware of the meaning of integrity. It (integrity) is not only about avoiding corruption, but we must also have integrity in the way we speak and the way we debate.

"Do not act like children... we are already old. Do not make a fool of ourselves in the live broadcast," he said.

He also warned that stern action would be taken against those who did not follow the House's rules.

"I will handle it (those who do not follow the rules) according to what is stated here (the standing order).

"If anyone is stubborn, I do not care. We are friends outside (this House), but I will do my responsibility in here."

Earlier, the Dewan Rakyat descended into chaos when RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) invoked Standing Orders 36(6) and 36(12), alleging that opposition leaders had obstructed him from raising the issue of gold mining in Kelantan in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

Datuk Awang Hashim (PN-Pendang) stood up and interjected, claiming that DAP had applied for land in Kelantan.

"I found that there is a DAP leader who applied for land, in the hundreds of acres. This is out of Jelutong's knowledge. He doesn't know this."

This then led to several DAP MPs standing up in objection, demanding that Awang provide proof and name the leader who had asked for land in the state,

Apart from Rayer, they included Cha Kee Chin (Rasah), Chow Yu Hui (Raub), Khoo Poay Tiong (Kota Melaka).
